Chocolate peanut crunch is the best flavor by far. I've nearly lived on these. They used to have Chocolate Espresso, with crunchy cracked espresso beans laced throughout, and they were nice. I think they discontinued this flavor? I really liked Lemon Poppyseed despite the frosting, which is not appetizing in the heat. It was not a favorite of my teammates though. Carrot Cake had rabid enthusiasts.

xpost -- i like 'em because they're not made with corn syrup or any other heavily processed form of sugar. the sugar it's made with (evaporated cane juice) tastes more like what real, unfuckedwith sugar's supposed to taste like, so you need less of it to feel satisfied. hence, it's healthier.

did anyone try Blueberry Crisp yet?
yes, i like it. one was in my car, all warm and sticky from the sun. maybe you should try heating one up.
― cutty, Friday, 5 October 2007 14:19 (eighteen years ago)
Blueberry crisp is good. Carrot cake is pretty good too, banana nut bread is oddly disappointing.
― Jordan, Friday, 5 October 2007 15:14 (eighteen years ago)
energy toaster-strudel
― Hurting 2, Friday, 5 October 2007 17:39 (eighteen years ago)
After the third bite they all begin to taste alike to me. Not bad, just fairly indistinguishable. (The carrot cake is the biggest exception to this rule. This may account for some of its popularity.)
― Aimless, Friday, 5 October 2007 17:43 (eighteen years ago)
They're really good with coffee/as a breakfast substitute. Kind of like a yuppie donut.
They're not good enough that I'd eat one at home when there's "real" food around, but they're pretty much the tastiest satisfying thing you can get at convenience stores.
― Hurting 2, Friday, 5 October 2007 17:45 (eighteen years ago)
I still don't understand why no one seems to make savory energy bars.
...because there's already beef jerky in the world?
― Laurel, Friday, 5 October 2007 17:47 (eighteen years ago)

― jaymc, Friday, 5 October 2007 18:23 (eighteen years ago)
Also, I only buy Clif bars from 7-11, so I have never seen these wacky pie and strudel flavors. Interested.

i have been too scared to find out. do they have estrogen in them? i think they have a version for dudes though.
― artdamages, Friday, 5 October 2007 18:41 (eighteen years ago)
I was at a bike shop the other day and they had more kinds of bars than I had ever seen in one place. I got excited about some of the Luna flavors (chocolate pecan pie!) and then got sad because they are for women, not me. :(
― Jordan, Friday, 5 October 2007 18:42 (eighteen years ago)
are they called tep bars?

LUNA Basics
Why create a bar only for women? Many women fail to get adequate vitamins and minerals on a daily basis. LUNA bar was created to help women get more of the nutrients often lacking in their meal plans while being 100% natural and as organic as possible. That’s why LUNA bar contains ingredients, like folic acid, soy protein, calcium, vitamins and minerals that are essential to a woman’s everyday nutritional needs. As women ourselves, we understand the importance of maintaining overall health and wellness.
Can men eat LUNA bars too? Men too can enjoy LUNA bars! There is nothing in a LUNA bar that is not good for men. However, LUNA bars are specifically formulated to provide women with the nutrients that are often harder for them to get.
― artdamages, Friday, 5 October 2007 18:46 (eighteen years ago)
Oh, I had a couple Lara Bars recently: good stuff. They taste a lot healthier and more natural than most energy bars.
― jaymc, Friday, 5 October 2007 18:46 (eighteen years ago)
So Luna is strong enough for a man but Ph balanced for a woman
― Hurting 2, Friday, 5 October 2007 18:46 (eighteen years ago)
oh, right. i guess cliff bars owns luna bars. or something. still i dont think cliff bars are specially formulated.

i think luna bars are good for when you have a yeast infection
i was gonna buy some Curves cereal because it was on sale, but i decided against it.
― artdamages, Friday, 5 October 2007 18:50 (eighteen years ago)
There's a bakery in Minneapolis that makes "men's bread" and "women's bread", and the women's bread has estrogen. :/
― Jordan, Friday, 5 October 2007 18:50 (eighteen years ago)
i also sometimes get the impression that, based on the marketing, yogurt is only for women, but clearly i have some issues w/food and sex.
― artdamages, Friday, 5 October 2007 18:51 (eighteen years ago)
yogurt is so good tho
― Hurting 2, Friday, 5 October 2007 18:51 (eighteen years ago)
Plain yogurt anyway. Fruit yogurt is basically pudding disguised as health food.
French Meadow. Yeah thats a great place. flourless chocolate tortes are the best. they got in trouble a few years ago for having hemp in some of their bread.
― artdamages, Friday, 5 October 2007 18:52 (eighteen years ago)
I'm a little embarassed to admit I've only had FM in the Mpls airport, but it's so much better than any other airport food ever.
Vanilla yogurt is the best yogurt.
― Jordan, Friday, 5 October 2007 18:57 (eighteen years ago)
French Meadow = super awesome.

oh man I had that pear apple cobbler one when I was in Jackson, WY. my favorite so far (usually a clif bar and a banana is my breakfast). haven't been able to find them around here though dammit. no love for the black cherry almond?

i would eat a sweet and sour pork energy bar
― rrrobyn, Saturday, 6 October 2007 12:57 (eighteen years ago)
but really i'd eat an 'energy bar' that wasn't full of basically soy protein isolate and sugar but partly b/c both those ingredients hurt my system partly b/c wtf i don't care how organic that shit is, it's weird but y'know i just started working f-t and packaged food is so easy and you don't have to think abt it, you just grab it. which obv is one of the problems with the world right now but damn i mean i don't even know when i'm going to get a chance to do my laundry :/
i would like a bar made out of like vat-grown meat that's has no flavour in itself but has flavour added and that flavour is like salmon maki or thai red curry or butter tarts or whatever. or no, wait, i don't really want to ruin those things, so maybe it should just taste like nothing. like blankness.
