Mine might be something from Dynasty which is a bit rubbish. Unless there was a sex scene in Scully.

Yeah I'm interested in how it developed and became more acceptable on TV as even in the 80s it didn't seem as common as now. Was wondering if Dynasty really was one of the 'breakthrough' shows in this respect, not that I remember anything that gratuitious in it (not by today's standards at least).

Later, when I was around 11 or 12, my first proper exposure to sex on tv was the magnificent Dream On series. I recently re-watched the first two series of this and it's second only to Curb Your Enthusiasm in the great us tv show stakes.

[Conan the Barbarian might have been first, for me too, if films counted. Weird.]

yeah I was thinking about this show as I used to watch it precisely because I knew it was going to feature 'rumpo' (cf Smash Hits 1989). It was the Sex In The City of it's time and this was 14 years ago or so.

Heh, yes, that was on C5 every month for its first year I think. Classic scene: Ollie Reed running naked across the beach declaring, "Lucy, Lucy, I simply must fuck you!"
What was that C4 thing about all the aristos living by the sea and fucking each other? The Camomile Lawn, that's it! Showing my age here. It seemed to cause an awful lot of fuss at the time. It seems that as soon as the Tories went out of office people stopped getting so worked up about sex on TV. Queer As Folk was the last one to cause a stir really. What was that detective thing with Neal Pearson as a shag-happy rogue cop? That was probably the first place I saw sex scenes, although they tended to show the lead up and the aftermath rather than the dirty deed itself.
Oh my god, the hot tub in Coming To America. I remember being excruciatingly embarrassed watching that at my Granny's house as an 11 or 12 year old. It was her choice of viewing as well! She didn't bat an eyelid. I shouldn't be so shocked. She's a liberal lady and has 1950s hardbacks of Henry Miller and Simone De Beauvoir on her shelves.

I think the first time I ever saw proper sex on telly was in The Singing Detective. The sight of Patrick Malahide's arse will haunt me forever.
