help with colloquial spanish

hey gang,

i'm working on a dialogue study, and i need a lot of random spanish phrases, preferably in/from north/central/south american dialects and slang. doesn't have to be about anything, really. just snatches of speech you've overheard, or think would be a typical conversation, or just random shit. every once in a while i'll throw something in to this thread that i either need translated to or from. i'd really appreciate this because it'd be really important to what i'm working on, and my spanish is horrible/non-existent.

gracias

oh and "chinga te madre" is already covered.

oh and i guess i mean like street aka public conversation/talk. like stuff you'd overhear in a park or a restaurant or a grocery store or walking down the street and whatnot.

bacán = cool in perú but it means "sugar daddy" in other places
asú = wow in some places
in mexico, lana = money, but it really means "wool"

these are all the things i have in my brain, i don't know if they're helpful

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Sunday, 12 June 2005 15:05 (twenty years ago)

those are totally helpful!

would there be a more slang way of saying:

ella es la suya bacán.

? like in kind of a derogatory way? sort of like implying "he's her bitch" but not saying that exactly?

ummm jorel...

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Sunday, 12 June 2005 15:44 (twenty years ago)

what?

hstencil (hstencil), Sunday, 12 June 2005 15:50 (twenty years ago)

puta could be bitch, in the sense that "hijo de puta" = son of a bitch, but puta is more like "whore". basically i think you are in trouble. also "tu" is your, not "te". where is jewrican cutty?

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Sunday, 12 June 2005 15:57 (twenty years ago)

i'm not looking for bitch per se, i meant in the sense that someone saying "she's his sugar daddy" would imply degredation. subtlety, and stuff.
