"...so, on a scale of 1 to 10, just how old is Michael's boyfriend?"

kingfish maximum overdrunk (Kingfish), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 05:19 (twenty years ago)

"i'm wasting my time; criticizing these reporters is like booing at the Special Olympics"

Thanks for posting that. I love Triumph, and that was hilarious.

Thank you. Thank you so, so much.

giboyeux (skowly), Wednesday, 15 June 2005 03:57 (twenty years ago)

All the Triumph location spots go on too long. They could have cut a couple of minutes out of that one and made it much better.

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Wednesday, 15 June 2005 03:59 (twenty years ago)

some of the extended jokes just need the time, tho.

"...that was a dude. that was totally a dude!"

kingfish maximum overdrunk (Kingfish), Wednesday, 15 June 2005 04:16 (twenty years ago)

Milo is too angry. That had me nearly crying.

Paunchy Stratego (kenan), Wednesday, 15 June 2005 04:18 (twenty years ago)

Or maybe I'm too sensitive. History will decide.

Paunchy Stratego (kenan), Wednesday, 15 June 2005 04:19 (twenty years ago)

It was funny, but not HILARIOUS. The "that was totally a dude" was good tho.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 15 June 2005 04:23 (twenty years ago)

I guess I dont find this stuff relevatory because Norman Gunston's been doing it for years, years before Ali G even (1970s)

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 15 June 2005 04:23 (twenty years ago)

I just came in my pajamas.

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Wednesday, 15 June 2005 04:26 (twenty years ago)

"C'mon, let's sing some Soft Cell songs!"

and it's been down for years, yeah, silly accents and scathing insults are timeless.

kingfish maximum overdrunk (Kingfish), Wednesday, 15 June 2005 04:29 (twenty years ago)

yeah but this is really witty stuff, though. Smigel always goes one small but beautiful step farther than what's predictable. This was great.

Richard K (Richard K), Wednesday, 15 June 2005 05:31 (twenty years ago)

I agree. Been done before, yeah, sure maybe. But not at the Michael Jackson trial. That was funny.

Paunchy Stratego (kenan), Wednesday, 15 June 2005 05:36 (twenty years ago)

It is funny. I felt kind of bad for some of the people he was mocking, though. I mean, of course they're freaks. It seemed a little easy (especially the woman who completely didn't get the "came in his pajamas" joke, she reminded me uncomfortably of a stroke victim I knew). I liked when he made fun of the media, that was fine, but making fun of the sad freaks who rally around Michael because he's one of their own...I dunno.

gypsy mothra (gypsy mothra), Wednesday, 15 June 2005 05:58 (twenty years ago)

aw cmon, you know you TOTALLY laughed at that "you could have been Head Usher by now" line...

kingfish maximum overdrunk (Kingfish), Wednesday, 15 June 2005 06:04 (twenty years ago)

It was funny, yeah. Making fun of the girl in 3rd grade who smelled bad was funny too.

gypsy mothra (gypsy mothra), Wednesday, 15 June 2005 06:09 (twenty years ago)

(i know, too sensitive, i'm sorry. it was really the "came in his pajamas" woman that was too much for me, because she did remind me of this woman i knew who had had a stroke and her brain didn't work right and if triumph or anyone else had put a camera on her she would have just jabbered away and never known any different. not that that woman necessarily had brain damage or anything, but, i mean, something wasn't right with her.)

gypsy mothra (gypsy mothra), Wednesday, 15 June 2005 06:15 (twenty years ago)

something wasn't right with her.

true, but one could say that this applies to most of the folks there, in one way or the other

kingfish maximum overdrunk (Kingfish), Wednesday, 15 June 2005 06:17 (twenty years ago)

Did you see Triumph's American Idol thing a year or two ago? That was similar, but even funnier, I think.

He did a little variety show in the Butterfingers Comedy Tent. It was supposed to be 75 minutes but it was the first night and they didn't work out the kinks, so it ended up going for THREE HOURS. Not everything killed, but I was amazed at how much original, audience-tailored material he brought to a one-off performance that would eventually be spun off into a 10 minute NBC skit.

Whiney G. Weingarten, Saturday, 20 June 2009 16:53 (sixteen years ago)

also, since I was in the Butterfingers Comedy Tent for like six hours on Thursday night to stay out of the rain, I got my fill of free Butterfingers.
