i've always been curious as to why it's such a devisive condiment. some people put it on EVERYTHING (which i personally think is a little too much) and others FREAK OUT if they see people putting it on anything. i have to say i agree when it comes to something like steak. but when people act all uppity when you put it on a hot dog i think we've crossed over into you being a little ridiculous. it's a fucking hot dog, kids! calm it down.

Tommy k = tomato ketchup = ketchupBrown sauce = brown sauce/"daddies"Salsa = a dip or it goes on mexican foods - fried eggs not being considered 'tex-mex' by any stretch of the Liffey, it does not go on EYREN.

Salsa (with a little sriracha mixed in) goes on a cheese and mushroom omelette very well.
A peeled, seeded, chopped ripe tomato is the best tomato-based condiment beside some scrambled eggs.
Fried eggs: no condiment please. The yolk IS the condiment.

Ketchup goes *in* meatloaf, when you're making it! Totally necessary (hell, it's meatloaf after all and by right should have things like ketchup in it.)
this is right, as long as you don't forget the worcester, then you serve it with mashed potatoes and drenched in gravy with a half-ton of caramelised onion in it.
on the whole, i don't really like ketchup on anything other than burgers. i'm a brown sauce man, preferably HP or hammonds chop sauce. daddies is horribly acidic.

Oh man, when you start talking breakfast burritos we're entering a whole new ballgame. I just might beat someone up for one of those. Throw a little shredded cheese in there. criminy. I find that ketchup can work as a substitute for salsa in this case, though I usually do take the salsa route.
God, I wish I hadn't stated this thread on an empty stomach. Nor should I be reading with my lunch break being at least another hour away.

Hold on, folks. Salsa DOES have water in it (tomatoes), but this does not make it thin or anemic. GOOD salsa is thick and chunky-like OR it's been pureed in which case it is both less watery AND saltier (and deliciouser) than ketchup.
Salsa is inarguably better than ketchup w/r/t eggs. And just about everything else, for that matter.

I'd agree - like ketchup, mole sauce is too sweet to go well with eggs. (Though for some mysterious reason when the maple syrup from your pancakes dribbles over your scrambled eggs, it's not too bad.)
