I usually get a salad but I don't feel like salad. I don't eat sandwiches for lunch. I want something healthy but filling.

the D Double signal (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 16:07 (twenty years ago)

Eggs & Salsa sounds good.

geyser muffler and a quarter (Dave225), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 16:10 (twenty years ago)

Yum!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 16:10 (twenty years ago)

Yes, it does! Where would I get that? Si Senor?

the D Double signal (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 16:11 (twenty years ago)

I just had some bean/cheese/salsa tacos spurred by the egg thread.

Miss Misery (thatgirl), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 16:13 (twenty years ago)

Fritatas!

giboyeux (skowly), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 16:14 (twenty years ago)

I'm getting GYROS.

Tripmaker (SDWitzm), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 16:22 (twenty years ago)

you don't eat sandwiches for lunch? why?

kyle (akmonday), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 16:23 (twenty years ago)

Is GYROS plural? That sentence has me puzzled.

geyser muffler and a quarter (Dave225), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 16:24 (twenty years ago)

Baked beans and a turkey sammich again.

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 16:26 (twenty years ago)

Sorry, thought it said "what are YOU having for lunch".

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 16:27 (twenty years ago)

I had salads for lunch all last week and yesterday, but today I cracked (because of hunger and lack of time) and got a sub from the place down the hall. I ate so many of those during the first few months of working in this office that I hate them now, they all taste the same.

Normally I could balance this with a tasty and healthy dinner, but I have to drive to Minneapolis after work so I know that Wendy's is in my future.

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 16:37 (twenty years ago)

Sorry Adam, I don't know what you should have for lunch. Maybe a sandwich?

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 16:40 (twenty years ago)

i'm making a sandwich with alfalfa sprouts up on it!!!!!!!!

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 16:40 (twenty years ago)

gyros is singular!

metal detective (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 16:49 (twenty years ago)

BURGER. I haven't had one in months and I fear I may lose my citizenship because of it.

oops (Oops), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 16:53 (twenty years ago)

the deli across the street makes this great margherita salad with fresh mozzarella, shredded basil, and cherry tomatoes tossed in olive oil--I got a half-pound of it for lunch. It's so tasty and the texture of the fresh mozzarella is such that until you get to the end, you don't realize that you're eating HALF A POUND OF CHEESE. Ugh/yum.

teeny (teeny), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 16:54 (twenty years ago)

"gyros is singular!"

So is I'm getting a GYROS proper, or is GYROS like scissors?

geyser muffler and a quarter (Dave225), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 16:54 (twenty years ago)

you're getting gyros.

metal detective (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 16:55 (twenty years ago)

YEER-OSE!

metal detective (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 16:56 (twenty years ago)

Get a tostada.

M. White (Miguelito), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 16:56 (twenty years ago)

oops (Oops), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 16:57 (twenty years ago)

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 16:57 (twenty years ago)

oops, have you seen this? http://www.interestingideas.com/roadside/gyros/gyros.htm

metal detective (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 16:59 (twenty years ago)

I just got burnt out on sandwiches! And I have cereal/toast for breakfast so I am trying to cut down on the starch!

the D Double signal (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 17:01 (twenty years ago)

What did they ever do to you??

Oh, I don't know...THEY ONLY MADE YOUR FUCKING DAY WITH GOODNESS AND THE CONVENIENCE OF A MEAL DELIVERED IN BREAD.

I love sandwiches.

giboyeux (skowly), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 17:01 (twenty years ago)

jody that totally killed my gyro jones! i thought food signs were supposed to be, y'know, appetizing.

oops (Oops), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 17:05 (twenty years ago)

when i was in HS, i had a brief part in my friend's sister's short film entitled Only Crumbs Remain. I got fatally attacked by bread.

oops (Oops), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 17:06 (twenty years ago)

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 17:06 (twenty years ago)

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Tuesday, 14 June 2005 17:11 (twenty years ago)

Chicken kebab or chicken pesto pasta?

Hard like armour, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 01:59 (nineteen years ago)

KEBAB

tehresa, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 01:59 (nineteen years ago)

Holy shit the best lunch ever is a haloumi kebab. for sure. get it in ya. I'm going to go and grab one today. For lunch.

Drooone, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 02:01 (nineteen years ago)

Kebab it is. Chicken, sour cream, lettuce, tomato, shitloads of cheese and BBQ sauce. Toasted. Oh yeah. Mouth is watering.

Hard like armour, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 02:09 (nineteen years ago)

Get a baked potato. With some salad on the side for health.

braveclub, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 10:40 (nineteen years ago)

That is a good idea braveclub. I have not had a jacket potato for ages. I think this is because Benjys closed down!

I do hope kebab eaters are not taking the kebab back to their offices! Also, does halloumi belong in a kebab? I am shaking my head, concernedly.

Sarah, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 10:48 (nineteen years ago)

What the buggery bollocks is gyros? I'm not going to eat a welfare cheque for lunch thank you very much.

the next grozart, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 10:48 (nineteen years ago)

(I will probably be having mackerel on a roll with some salad - mackerel is yummy. I have concerns that it smells, but co-workers say it's OK. I still take the mackerel container etc out of the office first, and wash up my plate immediately just in case).

(If you fancy a mackerel TREAT, the mackerel and cous cous salad thing in M&S is good, but £3.90 = yes please also which orifice would you prefer to shaft me with today o cashier).

Sarah, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 10:54 (nineteen years ago)

GRAMMER, sorry - took a phonecall halfway through writing that very important sentence about mackerel.

Sarah, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 10:55 (nineteen years ago)

mmm mackerel, i think i may have a fish dinner tonight now - the smelly aftermath in the kitchen is worth it every once in a while

for lunch? probly just a pie, i'm in a rush today.

Ste, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 10:56 (nineteen years ago)

Gyros = American elephant's leg

Ed, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 10:58 (nineteen years ago)

I'd kill for a decent bakers near my work. Only one close is Greggs and their cheap and nasty ultra greasy offerings.

treefell, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 10:59 (nineteen years ago)

Nice apple turnovers though. And steak bakes. And pasties. AND EVERYTHING

Sarah, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 11:08 (nineteen years ago)

http://www.parthenongyros.com/images/menu_2.jpg

Gyros. You can say Gyro as well though.

nathalie, Wednesday, 18 April 2007 11:12 (nineteen years ago)

It's UK lunchtime. Hence call them by their REAL NAME: elephant leg kebabs. They should NOT be had for lunch (unless your lunch is like the glory days with my old boss, five pints then a kebab back at the office - stinky).
