http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050615/ap_on_re_us/schiavo_autopsy_13she DID have massive, irreperable brain damage after all. To the point where her crainial tissue was about 50% the size it should have been. Imagine that.
Oh yeah, and remember that Bill Frist guy, the celebrated Senate Majority Leader Wot Is Also a Doctor, declaring that Terri was still viable since he claimed the hour of edited videotape that he watched showed her clearly responding to visual stimuli? Well, she was also BLIND, too! Good thing that Frist put his years of HEART SURGERY experience to back up that claim of neurological competency!
Oh yeah, and the AP article concludes with:
...About 40 judges in six courts were involved in the case at one point or another. Six times, the U.S. Supreme Court refused to intervene. As Schiavo's life ebbed away following the final removal of her feeding tube, Congress rushed through a bill to allow the federal courts to take up the case, and President Bush signed it March 21, but federal courts refused to step in.
That many/most of those federal court judges were REALLY conservative Republican appointees, much less a Supreme Court currently dominated by the conservative wing.
