i'm tired as fuck and I hate going out these days

z, Saturday, 18 June 2005 00:44 (twenty years ago)

i'm not home, i'm at work.

hstencil (hstencil), Saturday, 18 June 2005 00:45 (twenty years ago)

I'm at home with a stack of work in front of me. One more ad, then a livestock show result page, then the graduation section, then the magazine layout, zzzzzzzz....

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Saturday, 18 June 2005 00:51 (twenty years ago)

too complicated to go into.

Miss Misery (thatgirl), Saturday, 18 June 2005 00:54 (twenty years ago)

hstencil. that's outrageous! where do you work at 10 on a friday night, unless of course you are on the west coast...

z, Saturday, 18 June 2005 00:59 (twenty years ago)

friday night is baseball night.

hstencil (hstencil), Saturday, 18 June 2005 01:03 (twenty years ago)

just got home. not working tomorrow. bored but don't want to go to bed.

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 18 June 2005 01:03 (twenty years ago)

same as ronan.

Maria (Maria), Saturday, 18 June 2005 01:11 (twenty years ago)

hi bored europeans! how was your friday night?

hstencil (hstencil), Saturday, 18 June 2005 01:11 (twenty years ago)

my big night out was earlier in the week.

jody l'anti-vierge (Jody Beth Rosen), Saturday, 18 June 2005 01:12 (twenty years ago)

mine was ok, I had some beer after work with my brother, who is home this weekend, then had some friends in my house and played records, which they didn't know. then went to a bar, then came home. quite standard friday night! trying to save money...

Ronan (Ronan), Saturday, 18 June 2005 01:17 (twenty years ago)

I too am at work. All night.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 18 June 2005 01:25 (twenty years ago)

Just went to a new Mexican restuarant, over by the Dollar Store and the discount movie theater. Both the wife and I have uncomfortable tummies now.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Saturday, 18 June 2005 01:43 (twenty years ago)

I'm always at home on a Friday night. The closest "cool place to hang out at" is way too far away from home for me to feel safe going there and coming back at approx. midnight or thereabouts. Anyway, going out is overrated. Says me.

The Kind and Benevolent Oracle of Dee (Dee the Lurker), Saturday, 18 June 2005 01:43 (twenty years ago)

Pleasant Plains: They probably had an overreliance on greasy, bean-y food. Most Mexican places I go to leave me feeling really comfortable. Though there is one that Mom loves that makes me feel slightly nauseated after going there.

The Kind and Benevolent Oracle of Dee (Dee the Lurker), Saturday, 18 June 2005 01:44 (twenty years ago)

It wasn't as nice as the other places. The carnitas were really, really dry as well.

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Saturday, 18 June 2005 01:54 (twenty years ago)

Ugh. Dry carnitas. I can only imagine how dire the rest of their food was.

The Kind and Benevolent Oracle of Dee (Dee the Lurker), Saturday, 18 June 2005 01:56 (twenty years ago)

I was at home getting drunk.

My guy was at work all friday night. He got home at 6am. He'd pulled a 22 hour shift. Fuck the games industry up its arse, it just stuffed up our 2 year anniversary plans :(

Trayce (trayce), Saturday, 18 June 2005 02:01 (twenty years ago)

is there some reason i'm not supposed to be home? or on ILX?

gabbneb (gabbneb), Saturday, 18 June 2005 02:08 (twenty years ago)

sweet, the white sox won. not a bad friday night.

hstencil (hstencil), Saturday, 18 June 2005 02:32 (twenty years ago)

was going to go see batman but my wife went to bed instead like she does every friday

kyle (akmonday), Saturday, 18 June 2005 02:38 (twenty years ago)

Because I have to wait until tomorrow night to have sex.

Ian Riese-Moraine: exposing ambitious careerists as charlatans since 1986. (East, Saturday, 18 June 2005 02:45 (twenty years ago)

I was too tired to take my friend up on an invitation to BBQ. I'm saving it all up for tomorrow night.

Orbit (Orbit), Saturday, 18 June 2005 02:59 (twenty years ago)

Why am I home? I live here.

Aimless (Aimless), Saturday, 18 June 2005 03:00 (twenty years ago)

Just got home after seeing Batman.

j.lu (j.lu), Saturday, 18 June 2005 03:04 (twenty years ago)

a virus.

g e o f f (gcannon), Saturday, 18 June 2005 03:15 (twenty years ago)

(xpost) I went out for Mexican food and saw Batman, too! I love superhero angst.

Maria (Maria), Saturday, 18 June 2005 03:16 (twenty years ago)

I'm in the studio, editing vocals. I just had a quick food-and-ILX break, and I want to be done in no more than two hours because: a) I'm tired and b) I have to be at my day job in the morning.

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Saturday, 18 June 2005 03:20 (twenty years ago)

i am recharging my ipod! and i have to go to work at 8 AM tomorrow, so i didn't feel like going out.

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Saturday, 18 June 2005 03:21 (twenty years ago)

i dont find drinking very fun. am i broken?

sunny successor (katharine), Saturday, 18 June 2005 03:31 (twenty years ago)

I have PMS. I think EATING is very fun, and I'm pretty *sure* I'm broken. Top of the evening to you!

Orbit (Orbit), Saturday, 18 June 2005 03:40 (twenty years ago)

I've never found the idea of drinking fun, though I was at one point curious about it. But Mom's constant reminders of drunk relatives of the past & present has put a major kibosh on any further curiosity on that front.

Anyway. Drinking water and listening to a bunch of bands performing on this TV show that Ovation is now showing. They're all taken from this program called "Later With Jools Holland". Sip tap sip nod sip hum sip tap sip nod sip hum sip tap sip. Mmmm, thrilling.

The Kind and Benevolent Oracle of Dee (Dee the Lurker), Saturday, 18 June 2005 03:40 (twenty years ago)

Jeez, Dee, have a glass of wine.

My dad was an alcoholic, I'm not. It doesn't mean I will be. I was told by a very good authority that I don't "have it in me" to be a decent alkie or addict. You've got the gene or you don't I think.

Orbit (Orbit), Saturday, 18 June 2005 03:42 (twenty years ago)

i accidentally got stoned. again.

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Saturday, 18 June 2005 03:47 (twenty years ago)

hahaha! More power to ya!

Orbit (Orbit), Saturday, 18 June 2005 03:48 (twenty years ago)

Ate 2 fried wasabi peas.

wetsink, Saturday, 18 June 2005 03:49 (twenty years ago)

only 2?
are you on a quota system?

Orbit (Orbit), Saturday, 18 June 2005 03:51 (twenty years ago)

listening to sleater-kinney and talking to my girly online because she is far away :(

t0dd swiss (immobilisme), Saturday, 18 June 2005 03:57 (twenty years ago)

oh, dont get me wrong, i mainline as much smack as the next girl, but the demon drink makes me an angel, dig?

sunny successor (katharine), Saturday, 18 June 2005 04:06 (twenty years ago)

whatever

Orbit (Orbit), Saturday, 18 June 2005 04:07 (twenty years ago)

BTW
I almost blinded myself with one of my farts.

wetsink, Saturday, 18 June 2005 04:09 (twenty years ago)

only 2?
are you on a quota system?

wetsink, Saturday, 18 June 2005 04:11 (twenty years ago)

i was at work till 11 pm. i got home a little after 12 am, and just ate some dinner. since i have to go work tomorrow, i will go to sleep very soon.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Saturday, 18 June 2005 04:16 (twenty years ago)

I've never found the idea of drinking fun

Dee, when the hell are you coming to visit me in Austin?

I definitely have the alkie gene but with some viligance I can keep it in check.

boy and I argued early on about which club we were going to to see which slate of bands (Austin vs. Dallas). In the end we did neither and just went down the street to the local circus-themed dive bar and drank to Johnny Cash on the jukebox. Hurrah!

Miss Misery (thatgirl), Saturday, 18 June 2005 04:18 (twenty years ago)

It's a slow news night, but my boss hasn't left yet (so no music). Trying to write my weekly drivel for the New Yorker and feeling less than entirely inspired. Need to drink more coffee, but am worried it will prompt me to grind my teeth into jagged, tongue-worrying picket-fences. God I fucking hate CNN and MSNBC....grumble grumble grumble...

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 18 June 2005 04:28 (twenty years ago)

alex, do you write teh listings?

jaymc (jaymc), Saturday, 18 June 2005 04:29 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, I write blurbs for the "night life" section of Goings On About Town,....invariably about bands no discerning New Yorker reader would ever dream of going to go see.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 18 June 2005 04:35 (twenty years ago)

hehe, i thought so, sometimes i read them and wonder if they were penned by you.

jaymc (jaymc), Saturday, 18 June 2005 04:39 (twenty years ago)

i like the economy of them.

jaymc (jaymc), Saturday, 18 June 2005 04:40 (twenty years ago)

"Discerning Upper East Siders know to honor the fire this Saturday evening..."

s1ocki (slutsky), Saturday, 18 June 2005 04:41 (twenty years ago)

i mean, i should talk -- seeing as i drove to albany, ny from hoboken, nj -- and back -- after pulling an all-nighter!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Saturday, 18 June 2005 04:52 (twenty years ago)

no!! i just went out for a big nice dinner and watched a movie. now i'm hangin'!!

s1ocki (slutsky), Saturday, 18 June 2005 04:52 (twenty years ago)

In 8 hours I'm driving to a National Park. And then I'm going to walk in and not come back for three days. Like Jesus, only without the whole dying and saving the souls of everybody.

Huk-L, Saturday, 18 June 2005 04:52 (twenty years ago)

i should explain that when i saying "i'm driving" i mean "my friend is driving & i'll be snoozin' in the back"

s1ocki (slutsky), Saturday, 18 June 2005 04:53 (twenty years ago)

i like the economy of them.

It's that very "economy" that's making me want to root around in my inner ear with a phillips head screwdriver.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 18 June 2005 04:53 (twenty years ago)

it's the economy, stupid!

s1ocki (slutsky), Saturday, 18 June 2005 04:54 (twenty years ago)

K.I.S.S.

jaymc (jaymc), Saturday, 18 June 2005 04:59 (twenty years ago)

ts: chuck klosterman's favorite band vs. the clinton-era catchphrase!

jaymc (jaymc), Saturday, 18 June 2005 04:59 (twenty years ago)

KIX vs. "focus like a laser"

Eisbär (llamasfur), Saturday, 18 June 2005 05:00 (twenty years ago)

(whoops, that's chuck EDDY -- please forgive me!)

Eisbär (llamasfur), Saturday, 18 June 2005 05:00 (twenty years ago)

Kiss the Economy, Stupid.

Huk-L, Saturday, 18 June 2005 05:01 (twenty years ago)

I just went to a barbecue with yuppies, that's why!

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Saturday, 18 June 2005 05:03 (twenty years ago)

yeah.

hstencil (hstencil), Saturday, 18 June 2005 05:14 (twenty years ago)

I just went to a housewarming party for my coworker, i.e. she just closed on the house today and there is no furniture in it, so we partied.

Jordan (Jordan), Saturday, 18 June 2005 05:15 (twenty years ago)

Sam, Dee isn't going to come visit any of us. We're going to have to go and KIDNAP her!

PLEASE could you guys come and kidnap me?! PLEASE?!

Erm, I mean, it'll happen someday!!! Cross my heart!

Okay, right now I'm watching this thing about Disney World on the Food Network and I'm thinking, even right now with my lack of an appetite, I would REALLY love to go to Disney World. I mean, the whole place looks so inanely neat that I'd love to visit it period, regardless of food, though the food does look good too.

Oh, and Katharine's Mrs. Pleasant Plains?!?! Well, knock me over with a spoon and call me Sophia!

The Kind and Benevolent Oracle of Dee (Dee the Lurker), Saturday, 18 June 2005 05:15 (twenty years ago)

yeah. it rox.

sunny successor (katharine), Saturday, 18 June 2005 05:30 (twenty years ago)

now i'm watching the "rehearsal" scene from "mulholland dr."

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Saturday, 18 June 2005 05:34 (twenty years ago)

awesome.

jaymc (jaymc), Saturday, 18 June 2005 05:38 (twenty years ago)

The world would be a greater, healthier, better place if Disneyworld suddenly burst into flames.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Saturday, 18 June 2005 05:42 (twenty years ago)

the rehearsal scene is so good. what a fucking WICKED setup.

s1ocki (slutsky), Saturday, 18 June 2005 05:48 (twenty years ago)

it's almost like the setup for a joke, actually.

s1ocki (slutsky), Saturday, 18 June 2005 05:49 (twenty years ago)

The world would be a greater, healthier, better place if Disneyworld suddenly burst into flames.

an utterly strange convergence of opinion w/ pat robertson there, alex!

Eisbär (llamasfur), Saturday, 18 June 2005 06:04 (twenty years ago)

Just because.

kingfish (Kingfish), Saturday, 18 June 2005 06:20 (twenty years ago)

I ain't home, I'm in a dressing room waitin' around to get paid and wishing there was a permanent quick cure for acid reflux

Banana Nutrament (ghostface), Saturday, 18 June 2005 06:22 (twenty years ago)

exams exams exams. i wasn't home exactly, i was at the library. which someone described to me as 'my spiritual home' recently. now i'm at the library again. though it's saturday now.

gem (trisk), Saturday, 18 June 2005 06:43 (twenty years ago)

i live next door to a library but i keep forgetting it's there. i should go.

jody l'anti-vierge (Jody Beth Rosen), Saturday, 18 June 2005 06:46 (twenty years ago)

don't do it! there's no cups of tea in the library. although that could be handy if it's right next door because you could just pop home when you get sick of the place.

gem (trisk), Saturday, 18 June 2005 06:53 (twenty years ago)

I walked all over Central London and collapsed at home alone.

Negativa, True Believer (Sheryl Crow in a Britney costume) (Barima), Saturday, 18 June 2005 07:12 (twenty years ago)

I ate ice cream and thai with Ned, Arthur, Vic and Spencer.

Remy (x Jeremy), Saturday, 18 June 2005 07:21 (twenty years ago)

Because that's where the car went when my husband drove us home from work. Plus being at home is dripping-honey-manna-from-heaven compared to the back-biting-little-piece-of-heck-on-earth that I work at.

Alex, my prayers are with thee. Economy of words is no fun at all. My job requires me to write at least 100 one-line synopses for box-office & direct-to-video DVD releases every fortnight. It's my punishment for prior crimes of verbosity, I believe.

VegemiteGrrl (VegemiteGrrl), Saturday, 18 June 2005 07:23 (twenty years ago)

oops, almost 6am. just got home.

pleasant plains to thread

oh wait, hes asleep.

sunny successor (katharine), Saturday, 18 June 2005 15:05 (twenty years ago)

i'm in TO now!! so tired

s1ocki (slutsky), Saturday, 18 June 2005 15:17 (twenty years ago)

I ate ice cream and thai with Ned, Arthur, Vic and Spencer.

I decided not to eat with the above because I was still full from lunch and couldn't see driving across town for some ice cream. (And I am a slug.)

nickn (nickn), Saturday, 18 June 2005 16:30 (twenty years ago)

Publish long distance calling card numbers and pins here!

wet sink, Saturday, 18 June 2005 16:38 (twenty years ago)

But, dude, it's, like, Saturday now.

Aimless (Aimless), Saturday, 18 June 2005 17:00 (twenty years ago)

I wasn't home on a Friday night. But I SHOULD have been, going out was just a bummer and lonely. I could have been reading a BETTY AND VERONICA COMIC instead!

Now I'm home on a Saturday morning because I'm lazy and it's hot.

gunther heartymeal (keckles), Saturday, 18 June 2005 17:04 (twenty years ago)

Alex, what do you write for the New Yorker?

paulhw (paulhw), Saturday, 18 June 2005 19:47 (twenty years ago)

It's Saturday. I'm at home and bored.

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Sunday, 19 June 2005 02:09 (twenty years ago)

I ate ice cream and thai with Ned, Arthur, Vic and Spencer.

And a grand time it was!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 19 June 2005 02:14 (twenty years ago)

It's Saturday evening. I was supposed to hang out with a friend today but her mother had the car all day and so she couldn't get out. I would've taken the city bus to see her if she didn't live in the rich part of town where they don't need buses. I ride the city bus and walk fairly long (relative) distances all the time, so this wouldn't normally be such a problem but today I want my fucking wheelchair or some prosthetic legs as they're aching like Hell.

Ian Riese-Moraine eats nation-states for breakfast! (Eastern Mantra), Sunday, 19 June 2005 02:23 (twenty years ago)

My legs are also sore- I played a game of Ultimate this afternoon, then decided this evening that I really wanted to take an evening run along the waterfront with my dog. Doggie almost had to drag me back home up the hill. I need to find my tiger balm. Thankfully I'm eating a nice dinner now: fresh raspberries from the market this morning... I gave doggie a couple & he snarfed in 6 at a time.

lyra (lyra), Sunday, 19 June 2005 02:57 (twenty years ago)

Hey! Another ultimate ilxor!

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Sunday, 19 June 2005 03:01 (twenty years ago)

Heh, I'm still kind of new to Ultimate. My friend got me into it because they needed another girl for his team. So far I can throw nicely, because my dog is frisbee FREAK so I get lots of practice tossing his frisbee every day, but I don't catch so well.

lyra (lyra), Sunday, 19 June 2005 03:14 (twenty years ago)

You'll have to teach him to throw then.

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Sunday, 19 June 2005 03:38 (twenty years ago)

paulhw, he explained it upthread!!

jaymc (jaymc), Sunday, 19 June 2005 04:49 (twenty years ago)

i'm back from jeff-pttl's wedding reception, which was awesome.

jaymc (jaymc), Sunday, 19 June 2005 04:49 (twenty years ago)

i'm home because i had a rough week and i'm still feeling burned out. also, going out (and coming home) costs money.
