Second case of mad cow disease confirmed in Texas

(it was a downer cow and not in the food supply... but just wondering what the future holds.)

way to make me even more paranoid donut

time to tighten up abattoir practices and stop feeding bone meal to cows.

Ed (dali), Friday, 24 June 2005 19:58 (twenty years ago)

paranoid? this is nothing compared to the whole avian flu thing, which I've managed to go "LALALALALALALALA" to, amazingly enough.

donut e-go (donut), Friday, 24 June 2005 20:13 (twenty years ago)

I'm vegetarian LALALALALALALA

magnitude v. probability

gabbneb (gabbneb), Friday, 24 June 2005 20:18 (twenty years ago)

Good. This could possibly mean lighter restrictions on Canadian cattle.

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Friday, 24 June 2005 20:35 (twenty years ago)

Donut, you have a lot of anxiety. Not tryin' ta tell you anything you don't know, but still.

What's good about Canadian cattle? My understanding is that America makes the finest beef in the world, largely because we've spent more time and money breeding cows to be fatter and dumber. Makes the meat marbled and the slaughter easier.

Paunchy Stratego (kenan), Friday, 24 June 2005 20:44 (twenty years ago)

mmmm, hormone enriched.

Ed (dali), Friday, 24 June 2005 20:46 (twenty years ago)

Even without that. *Especially* without that.

Paunchy Stratego (kenan), Friday, 24 June 2005 20:47 (twenty years ago)

God, you're right, Remy. I'd forgotten the end of that.

M. White (Miguelito), Friday, 24 June 2005 20:49 (twenty years ago)

It's not anxiety as much as just "fuck it.. i'm doing the things I want to do NOW.. no long term investments 4 me!".. between the threat of an avian flu and the Long Emergency i.e. future oil crisis, the only long term plan I have is to figure out a way to go as peacefully as possible when the time comes, which will probably happen prematurely and out of my control.

Replace "cows" with "people" and you'd be correct.

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Saturday, 25 June 2005 18:09 (twenty years ago)

I beg your pardon: my meat is not marbled.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Saturday, 25 June 2005 19:19 (twenty years ago)

But I'm sure you're tasty nonetheless!

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Saturday, 25 June 2005 21:09 (twenty years ago)

Marbling != good. Fat gives flavor (I guess ribeyes are the most popular cut?), but I never like the texture/feel of a fatty piece. Gimme a good hunk of top sirloin or a new york strip, both fairly lean internally.

Second case of Mad Cow confirmed in Texas

How could they tell?

Taste the Blood of Scrovula (noodle vague), Saturday, 25 June 2005 22:38 (twenty years ago)

Because it's Texas, its almost enough to make me believe in karma.
