Could anyone help me find a decent image editor?

MSPaint suddenly stopped working on my computer over a year ago, and it took me forever to find a piece of freeware that worked for my computer (EasyPeg), but I want to be able to paste images inside other images and whatnot and EasyPeg won't let me do that (or, when it does the whole image turns black inexplicably). Could someone recommend anything better that I can find online for free?

go to jasc.com and get the latest version of paintshop pro. it'll only be good for 30 days but im sure you can work out how to fix that.

or

go buy a computer magazine. it is bound to have an older, yet free, version of paintshop pro on the cover disc.

PaintShop Pro wouldn't install and I don't have enough RAM for Gimp (which Caitlin suggested to me). I'm downloading pixia, though.
