even if he has made his money by destroying other peoples companies, giving $46 billion to curing disease is a pretty cool thing to do. and i never had any major problems with windows!

On the whole, classic. Writing most of an operating system over a weekend to avoid getting sued is pretty cool.

Nerds hate him, so he must be doing something right.

"you can smell our pussies on the screen.....okay...bill gates, if you're developing this technology....stop."

Your standard-issue billionaire. It's mildly nice of him that he did not pave his path to the top with real corpses, but merely the corpses of rival corporations. Ultimately he's uninteresting, unless viewed through the lens of his money. Thinking about Bill Gates as a person is a waste of time.

tell that to his mother

The "Open Letter to Hobbyists" from 1976 is a dud:

Basically "The problem with all you hobbiests is that you're not paying me."

mikef (mfleming), Sunday, 26 June 2005 22:31 (twenty years ago)

why is every single thread seem to be c/d?

The new trend of making a statement following it up with "c/d?" reeks of uptalking.
