The Panan: a Panini style sandwich grilled on Indian nan bread. Combos include portobello-lentil and lamb korma parmesan.

The Wrapwich This is like an ordinary wrap, but instead of being rolled in a tortilla-like shell, it is rolled in a triple-length piece of bread. The high-carb alternative to the lo-carb favorite.

The Pregzone It's a calzone with a "baby" (or, rather, "fetal") calzone inside it.

Calamatzah Squid fried in matzah crumbs. It's the traif alternative to the Kosher classic.

It's barely an excuse for a sponge, with great dollops of yellow butter, butter-milk, butterscotch, pigeon fat, clotted cream, brown sugar, double cream, vanilla escence, tripe, custard, magnolia emulsion, batter mix, lard, and more butter. Not that far removed from jello shots.

Hot fudge sundae bagel: When hot fudge sundae is on a bagel, you can have hot fudge sundae anytime.

I once read about a diner that served "sweet bagels" -- a split and toasted donut, topped with a schmear of ice cream.

j.lu (j.lu), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 17:32 (twenty years ago)

someone already made a grapple, ya know, the apple that tastes like a grape. But what about The Ape, a grape that tastes like an apple?

matlewis, Tuesday, 28 June 2005 18:09 (twenty years ago)

I've never understood why somebody would make jelly shots when you can make a big vodka jelly in a big bowl.

Mädchen (Madchen), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 18:11 (twenty years ago)

For the Mormons: The Virgin Jell-O Shot.

n/a (Nick A.), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 18:21 (twenty years ago)

nice...

dahlin (dahlin), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 18:46 (twenty years ago)

I saw a guy on Leno last night who was grilling a bacon cheeseburger that was to be sandwiched between a "bun" that was actually a halved, grilled Krispy Kreme donut. He then went on to roll a hotdog in some ground beef, deep fry that, put it in a kaiser roll, add chili, bacon, cheese, grilled onions, and toppped it off with a fried egg.

Anyway, my girlfriend and I decided that a chorizo quiche would be great to make. And we would garnish the top with spirals of avocado slices, tomato, and dust it with pico de gallo.

ath (ath), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 19:09 (twenty years ago)

that quiche sounds fucking awesome. are you going to grind/mince the chorizo or leave it a little chunky? anything else besides chorizo and generic quiche batter for the filling?

AaronK (AaronK), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 19:18 (twenty years ago)

Not sure. We eat pork chorizo with eggs all the time for breakfast. I'm not positive how to make a quiche, but isn't it just basically an egg pie? It couldn't be too hard to bake it so it transforms the egg and chorizo into quiche mode. But surely one would have to put the chorizo log into the frying pan and fry it in its own sweet orange grease first.

ath (ath), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 19:22 (twenty years ago)

Scott likes to do this thing he calls a Meatwich - two pieces of salami with cheese inbetween. I invented the Sausage Burger, which is what it sounds like.

rainy (rainy), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 21:45 (twenty years ago)

We eat pork chorizo with eggs all the time for breakfast.

pork chorizo w/ eggs is a TASTE SENSATION! and easy to make at home. take it out of the casing and fry up the ground meat, then drop the eggs right into the pork grease.

the underground homme (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 22:02 (twenty years ago)

ps Best if done in a cast-iron pan.

Hurting (Hurting), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 23:16 (twenty years ago)

I've often thought a sushi pizza would be the ideal food though I can't quite work out the specifics. I suppose there could be many variations. For example, a flat disc of rice sandwiched between two layers of seaweed and fried in a tempura batter would be the crust. A mild but somehow thickened soy sauce would go on top of that with maybe another thin sprinkling of rice in place of the cheese. Then the toppings would be an assortment of fish with small garishings of wasabi. Cut it into slices and eat by hand. Obviously this would be a small, personal size pizza. I think it could work.

walter kranz (walterkranz), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 23:37 (twenty years ago)

ps Best if done in a cast-iron pan.

as is everything!

the underground homme (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 23:39 (twenty years ago)
