Daniel Cohen (dayan), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 22:27 (twenty years ago)

Andrew Bogut first to the Bucks. Genius bullet points:

" - Idol is former NBA player Drazen Petrovic
- Favorite food: soup"

Daniel Cohen (dayan), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 22:41 (twenty years ago)

Williams #2. No surprises so far.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 22:43 (twenty years ago)

Jeez, I agree with Vitale - what does Marvin Williams give them in addition to Smith, Childress, et al.?

Daniel Cohen (dayan), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 22:45 (twenty years ago)

Andrew Bogut: Great White Hope #432

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 22:48 (twenty years ago)

He's not white, he's clear.

I'm more excited about already-been-drafted Luis Scola. Bringin' more of that Argentinian business.

Bruce Bwned (Matt Chesnut), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 22:49 (twenty years ago)

And Williams #3. Snore.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 22:49 (twenty years ago)

Bogut's pretty good. I wouldn't be shocked if he's better than Yao Ming this year.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 22:50 (twenty years ago)

wow.. as an illini fan.. im still pretty surprised to see deron williams go #3... ahead of chris paul.

phil-two (phil-two), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 22:51 (twenty years ago)

7 tattoos on that man and still, character! Can't argue with that.

Daniel Cohen (dayan), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 22:52 (twenty years ago)

Chris Paul to the Hornets, no surprise. I was sorta hoping he'd fall to Charlotte.

Now what: Felton? Green?

Daniel Cohen (dayan), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 22:54 (twenty years ago)

Meanwhile, Chris Paul's brother (and apparent personal assistant) C.J. has the suit/rimless glasses combo of the draft so far - he looks like a member of Boyz II Men!

Daniel Cohen (dayan), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 22:56 (twenty years ago)

Raymond Felton's listed height - 6'0(1/4)". Dun dun DUN.

Still reeling from that C.J. Paul interview - not only the "official head of his posse," but apparently Chris Paul pulled that knife on him out of love.

Daniel Cohen (dayan), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 23:00 (twenty years ago)

Portland taking another guy who probably wets the bed. No shock there.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 23:08 (twenty years ago)

Holy shit - Martell Webster's grandmother's chef's hat!

Daniel Cohen (dayan), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 23:11 (twenty years ago)

Whoa - Charlie Villanueva to the Raptors. I thought for sure they'd go after Frye or Bynum if they wanted a big man that badly. How far does Gerald Green drop now?

Daniel Cohen (dayan), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 23:13 (twenty years ago)

I'm okay with Frye, as a Knick fan. A center who isn't either 6'7", a total stiff, or Frederic Weis? Fine by me.

Daniel Cohen (dayan), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 23:20 (twenty years ago)

Ok here's the pick that matters...

Leeeeee (Leee), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 23:21 (twenty years ago)

these are some terrible picks

Sym Sym (sym), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 23:25 (twenty years ago)

Diogu at #9 is mystifying to me. There are going to be a couple of seriously good players going to playoff teams at this rate.

Daniel Cohen (dayan), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 23:29 (twenty years ago)

Rumor has it Lakers will take Green.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 23:30 (twenty years ago)

Lakers take Bynum! Green is plummeting. Do the Magic still take Granger as predicted now?

Daniel Cohen (dayan), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 23:31 (twenty years ago)

nope. why is everyone skipping on him?

Sym Sym (sym), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 23:31 (twenty years ago)

xp

Sym Sym (sym), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 23:32 (twenty years ago)

And instead they take a 7'0 HS Center.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 23:32 (twenty years ago)

A BIG HS Center though. 7ft/300lbs big! Yowza.

Sym Sym (sym), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 23:48 (twenty years ago)

Sym Sym (sym), Tuesday, 28 June 2005 23:49 (twenty years ago)

My Fake Season: Next Season Starts Now
Screw this draft shit, I think the Bulls are on track to take the Pacers.

Lukas (lukas), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 00:26 (twenty years ago)

Loving Bynum's Myspace profile. Warrick to the Grizzlies - I was hoping he'd slide to the Nuggets for sentimental reasons.

Daniel Cohen (dayan), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 00:32 (twenty years ago)

As a Celtics fan I have just this to say:

YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!YES!

Thank you for listening.

jhoshea (scoopsnoodle), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 00:35 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, that Green pick was unbelievable. Boston's been drafting better than anybody the last couple of years.

Nate Robinson to Phoenix - holy crap! Short of Warrick, I can't think of anybody who's a better fit for their team.

Daniel Cohen (dayan), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 00:38 (twenty years ago)

And they promptly throw him in the Richardson/Thomas trade. Not sure how he'll do in New York, but at least he's fun to watch.

Daniel Cohen (dayan), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 00:43 (twenty years ago)

In case anyone didn't notice, so far, we've had draftees reminisce about their brothers pulling knives on them and slamming them up against chain link fences and punching them.

I wish I had a brother.

jhoshea (scoopsnoodle), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 00:45 (twenty years ago)

Sean May looks really fat.

jhoshea (scoopsnoodle), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 00:46 (twenty years ago)

Can we get more of Danny Granger singing, please?

Daniel Cohen (dayan), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 00:46 (twenty years ago)

Were they pretending he could sing? His vocal upside is very limited.

jhoshea (scoopsnoodle), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 00:50 (twenty years ago)

He has tremendous vocal upside potential, compared to David from "Real World New Orleans."

Garcia to the Kings - great pick. Garcia's gonna be good.

Daniel Cohen (dayan), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 00:51 (twenty years ago)

Wow, Cuban has thus far refrained from blowing up the Mavs for draft picks.

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 00:52 (twenty years ago)

God I hate Dick Vitale.

milozauckerman (miloaukerman), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 00:55 (twenty years ago)

"Must improve: point guard skills"

A ringing endorsement of Luther Head!

Daniel Cohen (dayan), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 00:55 (twenty years ago)

I really really enjoy the name Luther Head.

jhoshea (scoopsnoodle), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 00:58 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, me too. I've just been derisively saying "Luther Head!" for the last ten minutes. It flows.

Daniel Cohen (dayan), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 01:00 (twenty years ago)

Denver trading Jack to Portland, perhaps - that makes a lot of sense, since Andre Miller isn't going anywhere and Sebastian Telfair is still, what, 16?

Daniel Cohen (dayan), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 01:01 (twenty years ago)

Luther Head - Carlos Boozer - Zarko Cabarkapa

jhoshea (scoopsnoodle), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 01:05 (twenty years ago)

Whoever this Ian Mahinmi guy is: "Dennis Rodman without the tattoos or the earrings."

Daniel Cohen (dayan), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 01:18 (twenty years ago)

From Yahoo! guys live analysis "This is why you have to love (or hate) the Spurs. How under the radar was Mahinmi? His bio didn't even make the official NBA draft media guide. No small feat since Torin Francis is in there and he isn't even in the draft. And don't think a lot of obscure foreigners are forgotten. There is a guy in there named Dirk Maedrich, who averaged 1.7 points a game for something called BS Energy Braunschweig in Germany."

Hahaha

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 01:28 (twenty years ago)

WHERE IS THE LOVE FOR DEPUTY COMMISSIONER RUSS GRANIK?

Daniel Cohen (dayan), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 01:32 (twenty years ago)

I'm bummed that the Knicks didn't take Stoudamire at #30. How many fucking power forwards does one team need?

Daniel Cohen (dayan), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 01:38 (twenty years ago)

Nothing about the draft is better than second-rounders jumping out of the stands and coming up on stage unannounced.

Daniel Cohen (dayan), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 01:53 (twenty years ago)

i think they traded kurt thomas for quentin richardson, no?

phil-two (phil-two), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 02:12 (twenty years ago)

"A lot of Americans don't like the French right now, but the NBA does."

Shut the fuck up, Fran!

Daniel Cohen (dayan), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 02:19 (twenty years ago)

one month passes...
WTF is up with all these sportswriters handing the Heat the championship after this BLOCKBUSTER trade that was actually kind of a snoozer. The problem with JWill is that he has to be #1, and I'm not really sure he's a big step up from Damon Jones. Fatoine Walker has to be #1, has no interior game and needs to be jacking up 5000 3-pointers which, btw, Eddie Jones could actually hit. Posey is a decent defender but that's about all he does. Shaq's getting older. And Van Gundy is going to be looking over his shoulder all season.

Indiana is the dangerous team in the East. They added Jasikevicus and Granger who are going to have a huge impact. Health Jermaine (if he can stay healthy is another question), Artest has maybe learned his lesson. And they're going to be hungry as can be. Nets look good but they're no better than 4th with Detroit up there too.

But the whole Heat thing has me really scratching my head.

Aaron W (Aaron W), Wednesday, 3 August 2005 21:08 (twenty years ago)

Yeah I don't get it either. It doesn't seem like much of a deal.
