Who is Christopher Hitchins and why does he look so much like a middle aged Ronan Keating?

Momus's hairstyle is the indie equivalent of the comb-over.

Kim Cooper, Wednesday, 29 June 2005 09:05 (twenty years ago)

Who is Christopher Hitchins

!!!?

mark p (Mark P), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 09:27 (twenty years ago)

O to return to that blessed state of unknowingness.

MISInformation: he's a funny little alcoholic ex-Communist who likes wars.

Flyboy (Flyboy), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 09:36 (twenty years ago)

"Before the hearing began, the Respect MP for Bethnal Green and Bow even had some scorn left over to bestow generously upon the pro-war writer Christopher Hitchens. "You're a drink-soaked former Trotskyist popinjay," Mr Galloway informed him. "Your hands are shaking. You badly need another drink," he added later, ignoring Mr Hitchens's questions and staring intently ahead. "And you're a drink-soaked ..." Eventually Mr Hitchens gave up. "You're a real thug, aren't you?" he hissed, stalking away."

Pardon my ignorance! Not my field. Oh my god, how many of you lot know who Zachary Vex is? (without googling) ::gasp::

(j/k before anyone goes ballistic)

MIS Information (kate), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 09:43 (twenty years ago)

I'm obviously not intellectual enough to be on this thead so I'm off to find funnies elsewhere.

MIS Information (kate), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 09:44 (twenty years ago)

My lord, that Hitchens photo is just ABSURDLY AWFUL!

The Future Mrs Archel, Wednesday, 29 June 2005 09:57 (twenty years ago)

I know! The trenchcoat! The awkward way he's holding the cigarette to draw attention to his transgressiveness!

Liz :x (Liz :x), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 09:58 (twenty years ago)

I heart Christopher Hitchens.

Taste the Blood of Scrovula (noodle vague), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 09:59 (twenty years ago)

You're kidding surely?

Dadaismus (Dada), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 10:00 (twenty years ago)

No way! I've even got this weird soft spot for Peter. Articulate but batshit is soooooo sexy.

Taste the Blood of Scrovula (noodle vague), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 10:03 (twenty years ago)

I didnt know who this Hitchens bloke was either fwiw.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 10:23 (twenty years ago)

I'm quite serious when I say that I think it's a very good thing never to have heard of Christopher Hitchens. He's not an intellectual, just another one of Martin Amis' twatty friends.

b-b-b-but he was good when he was pwning Kissinger, surely?

Daniel_Rf (Daniel_Rf), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 12:19 (twenty years ago)

hitchens is the kind of guy that although lately i don't usually agree with his opinions, i still think he's got a few smart bits to share. and he has no trouble tearing into the GOP circa the 80s. his article on slate about reagan not long after he was dead was OTM. he has nothing nice to say about mother teresa too. (which i don't know what to think about that.)

cornell west cracks me up. i totally like that dude.
