that's pretty cool.

it's got nothing on ridiculous computer generated porn

dvda, Wednesday, 29 June 2005 01:44 (twenty years ago)

haha! she looks like me

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 01:45 (twenty years ago)

DEEPLY DEEPLY DISTURBING

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 01:45 (twenty years ago)

it's kinda gross but mesmerizing, i like it

caitlin oh no (caitxa1), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 01:46 (twenty years ago)

You can lift her up if she gets stuck! This is fantastic and disturbing.

Casuistry (Chris P), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 01:56 (twenty years ago)

Damn, no Julee Cruise! *sniffles*

Ian Riese-Moraine has been xeroxed into a conduit! (Eastern Mantra), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 02:01 (twenty years ago)

hell, you can fling her around, too. such fun with ragdoll physics and horny russian programmers.

kingfish, Wednesday, 29 June 2005 02:01 (twenty years ago)

i can't get into it ... this needs a bus or a pizza or something

tackleberry (deangulberry), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 02:03 (twenty years ago)

creepy, yet I will probably never leave my house again. It better not be like the time I was addicted to Jewel Quest. Or The Sims.

gunther heartymeal (keckles), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 02:03 (twenty years ago)

OMG! It's so funny when she gets to the bottom! Did you guys see what happens then?

StanM (StanM), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 06:24 (twenty years ago)

Ragdoll physics are cool - they can lead to some hilarious collapsed bad-dude poses in games wot use the tech =)

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 07:43 (twenty years ago)

That's HORRIBLE!!! It's like JG Ballard's pornographic CSI fantasies gone horribly wrong.

MIS Information (kate), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 07:55 (twenty years ago)

Isnt it just meant to be a tool to show how ragdoll physics work on a falling body? OK, the body's in a bikini sure, and yeah it is disconcerting to look at , but I assumed that was so the movement of limbs and joints could be observed.

Maybe I've been watching Nick do his 3d art and stuff too long.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 08:16 (twenty years ago)

It's disturbing because it's a semi-naked woman. I think I would find it less disturbing if it were a man. (Yeah, I'm sexist, I know.) But what's most disturbing is the oddly unnatural shapes that the limbs manage to work themselves into as she goes through tight holes and around objects. You can tell from the way she moves that she is dead and that makes it creepy.

MIS Information (kate), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 08:18 (twenty years ago)

yeah thats the point of ragdoll physics. I think (I'd have to ask Nick about how it works mathematically) its meant to show the body in motion totally unfettered by muscular resistance - ie, if it was dead, I suppose.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 08:19 (twenty years ago)

That way you get realistic dudes falling over dead in games and what not.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 08:19 (twenty years ago)

how long does it take to get to the bottom? i dunno how much more of this disturbing display i can take

dahlin (dahlin), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 10:11 (twenty years ago)

It's almost as funny as the end of the Badger Badger Badger song.

(so yes, I was kidding. there is no end. but thanks for playing along! :-) )

StanM (StanM), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 10:15 (twenty years ago)

I gave up on the bottom and decided that it would be too horrible to contemplate.

MIS Information (kate), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 10:15 (twenty years ago)

when she gets to the bottom she meets THE BOSS

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 10:18 (twenty years ago)

I figured Stan was playing sillybugggers about the bottom ;)

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 10:18 (twenty years ago)

meanie

dahlin (dahlin), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 10:21 (twenty years ago)

mesmerised at work looking at the floaty girl in her bubbly world oooooh

battlingspacemonkey (battlingspacemonkey), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 11:45 (twenty years ago)

I got her stuck and it she was still kinda throbbing in place, like she was humping the bubble!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 13:17 (twenty years ago)

so much more fun than that siggraph demonstration of ragdoll physics i saw some years ago...

have only just realised you can drag her with the mouse when she gets stuck. picking her up and throwing her left or right is fun - there aren't any spheres over there and she can fly for quite a distance before they reappear.

koogs (koogs), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 15:11 (twenty years ago)

It's very cool. But also disturbing, mainly because of the way she looks real, like the designer made her look like someone he/she knows. And then it makes me think of Simon Pegg in Spaced drowning Lara Croft over and over again. heh.

The Future of Archel, Wednesday, 29 June 2005 15:16 (twenty years ago)

maybe Half Life 3 will include a mini-game like this, only with whatever gaming hyped-trend/fad follows ragdoll physics...
