If I ever see Momus I'm going to punch him in the eye patch. I swear to God.

What for?

suzy (suzy), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 10:01 (twenty years ago)

No he does not.

your mom, Wednesday, 29 June 2005 12:22 (twenty years ago)

I didn't start this thread.

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 13:12 (twenty years ago)

He might like it. It's pretty pleasing visually speaking.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 13:28 (twenty years ago)

On the negative side, though, lots of fat people and gyms.

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 13:31 (twenty years ago)

Also, it's not Tokyo.

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 13:31 (twenty years ago)

Also, our texture is too crunchy.

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 13:32 (twenty years ago)

Gourmet cheese has yet to rain from clouds eerily reminiscent of the visage of Nobukazu Takemura.

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 13:33 (twenty years ago)

I'll stop now.

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 13:33 (twenty years ago)

Now I'm just disgusted with myself. I have no self control.

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 13:36 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, but you're funny, and that goes a long way.

Paunchy Stratego (kenan), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 13:37 (twenty years ago)

I think Momus might appreciate the lack of garbage on the street, at least. I know I do.

Paunchy Stratego (kenan), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 13:38 (twenty years ago)

It's better in the winter though, because the snow hides the trash that is there.

Momus would like Nick and I because we had a very asian inspired dinner last night of sticky rice and greens with sesame seeds.

Sarah McLusky (coco), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 13:47 (twenty years ago)

You and your bland, soulless food.

Paunchy Stratego (kenan), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 13:49 (twenty years ago)

Momus just left Chicago.

...Oh wait, that was Jesus.

gypsy mothra (gypsy mothra), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 14:03 (twenty years ago)

momus has played the empty bottle, i'm pretty sure! i think he did a website essay about chicago back in 1998 or so. maybe 1999?

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 17:06 (twenty years ago)

i recall a bottle show with the super madrigal brothers or whoever.

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 17:07 (twenty years ago)

I've seen Momus wearing a LaTroy Hawkins Cubs jersey.

Gear! (Ill Cajun Gunsmith) (Gear!), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 17:12 (twenty years ago)

I saw Momus and Harry Caray making out under the State St. bridge.

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 17:21 (twenty years ago)

Moises Alou hates Momus, ever since he started bitching about their weak play on his blog. I guess he called Momus up and told him to shut it, saying he was "undermining their morale". In the end, Momus might have been right, although WGN canned his ass for speaking the truth.

Gear! (Ill Cajun Gunsmith) (Gear!), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 17:24 (twenty years ago)

Why, Momus has been here a number of times...on tour. Last time was 2002, I believe.

fake tan (dymaxia), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 17:33 (twenty years ago)

I think Momus might appreciate the lack of garbage on the street, at least. I know I do.

But Chicago was rated 50th out of 50 American cities in terms of its cleanliness! I know, wtf.

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 17:39 (twenty years ago)

Who commissioned that survey? The 1970s?

fake tan (dymaxia), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 17:41 (twenty years ago)

I think Momus might appreciate the lack of garbage on the street, at least. I know I do.

What, did Billy Corgan finally leave town?

Pleasant Plains /// (Pleasant Plains ///), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 17:45 (twenty years ago)

Momus say: "Mmmm! Hot dogs!"

Paunchy Stratego (kenan), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 17:46 (twenty years ago)

Close. Reader's Digest. I haven't seen the article about it, but apparently they used such measures as number of sanitation workers, which obv is not the best indicator.

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 17:51 (twenty years ago)

would momus be impressed that i saw both scientologists AND jews for jesus out proselytizing on my lunch break today? because i wasn't. they had the e-meter and everything.

The Landlord's Daughter (The Landlord's Daughter), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 17:52 (twenty years ago)

I think I saw some Mormons at the Clark & Lake stop this morning. Either that or they were just a random pack of really clean-cut teens with nametags.

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 17:53 (twenty years ago)

I've seen Momus at the Bottle twice -- once with Kahimi Karie, once with Stereo Total. The second time I went with Sterling, and we yelled "cockfarmer" very loud in an attempt to shock him. But he didn't hear us.

nabiscothingy, Wednesday, 29 June 2005 17:56 (twenty years ago)

Rapscallions!

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 17:56 (twenty years ago)

Chicago was rated 50th out of 50 American cities in terms of its cleanliness! I know, wtf.

wtf indeed. It says something about their rating the entire metro area, and Chicago's score being brought way down by outlying areas. The great majority of the metro area is very clean, and the air ain't as bad as you'd think. Chicago has worse air than Houston? I call bullshit.

Paunchy Stratego (kenan), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 18:04 (twenty years ago)

i went to a momus gig here in denver in 2002 but left before he even played because i was tired of the band playing the copper sitars who opened for him

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 18:06 (twenty years ago)

well that is one measure that's hard to dispute. i think i'd tend to put more stock in a scientific measure of air quality than, with all due respect, your assessment.

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 18:07 (twenty years ago)

The air on the south side used to be bad, but there's hardly anything down there to make it bad. Maybe they were factoring in the candy "pollution".

fake tan (dymaxia), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 18:13 (twenty years ago)

I work on the south side, and I can say that the air yesterday looked worse than it has since I've had this job. You could barely see downtown from 57th drive, and it was not rainy or overcast or foggy.

dan m (OutDatWay), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 18:26 (twenty years ago)

Well, it is pretty hot and humid out. By "south side", I meant far southeast side, where the industry used to be.

Momus vs Other Music

Ian John50n (orion), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 19:24 (twenty years ago)

It took that thread a very long time for anyone to point out that Momus had written a song for OM! That's very bad client service on his part.

nabiscothingy, Wednesday, 29 June 2005 19:37 (twenty years ago)

Momus was on my list of potentially interesting artists who I need to sooner or later look up, and he even got extra points for posting on ILX, but jesus christ...

after reading those two posts, the Momus vs Other Music one and the omg America has no texture (not even gay texture!) I hate this guy. This is ranking with the most pretentious, elitist shit I've ever read. He is now competing with Xiu Xiu for most negative mental image I have of an artist.

Mickey (modestmickey), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 21:37 (twenty years ago)

Don't be such a homophobe, jeez.

larry bundgee (bundgee), Wednesday, 29 June 2005 21:45 (twenty years ago)

what's wrong with xiu xiu? dude is actually nice.

ggggggggg, Thursday, 30 June 2005 00:52 (twenty years ago)

phil-two (phil-two), Thursday, 30 June 2005 01:07 (twenty years ago)
