CLEARLY I AM LOSING MY MIND, I HAVE BECOME OBSESSED WITH HAIRDRESSERS.

Lupton Pitman (Chris V), Thursday, 30 June 2005 15:05 (twenty years ago)

I WATCHED THE MARATHON AND NO I CAN'T STOP WATCHING IT. DRAMA OVER HAIR PRODUCTS.

Lupton Pitman (Chris V), Thursday, 30 June 2005 15:08 (twenty years ago)

My gf has me watching this show. J is such a passive-aggresive ass.

M. White (Miguelito), Thursday, 30 June 2005 15:08 (twenty years ago)

he cries all the time. "THANK YOU FOR LOVING MY HAIR JIZZ".

Lupton Pitman (Chris V), Thursday, 30 June 2005 15:10 (twenty years ago)

$500 for a haircut! Mine cost $10.

Lupton Pitman (Chris V), Thursday, 30 June 2005 15:13 (twenty years ago)

Really? I would have guessed $11.

n/a (Nick A.), Thursday, 30 June 2005 15:17 (twenty years ago)

Mmmmmmmaybe $12.

n/a (Nick A.), Thursday, 30 June 2005 15:17 (twenty years ago)

Oh wow, maybe I'll get to see this in Canada in 2011!

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 30 June 2005 15:18 (twenty years ago)

too expensive $12! i once got my hair cut at this joint in boston my wife used to go to. cost me $35, i almost shit.

Lupton Pitman (Chris V), Thursday, 30 June 2005 15:20 (twenty years ago)

Hahaha Tom doesn't even refer to the show as "Blow Out", he merely says "Jonathan", like maybe he might know Jonathan. It is impossible to not watch this program!! Once you see like five minutes of it, you are hooked forever and ever. I actually went and bought one of his hair products, it is great and smells like MARZIPAN!!!

Allyzay knows a little German (allyzay), Thursday, 30 June 2005 15:20 (twenty years ago)

The only reason I watch this is in the hope that one of his emplyees will finally snap and stab him in the head with scissors.

M. White (Miguelito), Thursday, 30 June 2005 15:22 (twenty years ago)

is it in the clear bottles he was going to fist fight over tuesday night?

whats with the super-fem guy with the hat. he needs a swift kick in his vag.

Lupton Pitman (Chris V), Thursday, 30 June 2005 15:23 (twenty years ago)

Did anyone see Jonathan on Ali G? Motherfuckers crazy..

Stuh-du-du-du-du-du-du-denka (jingleberries), Thursday, 30 June 2005 15:25 (twenty years ago)

Jonathan, the ultimate smoothie?

Jonathan of "Blow Out" may be the most shameless smoothie of them all. What he lacks in pumped-up physique he makes up for in behavior, parading his petty grievances, temperamental outbursts and crying jags like a pampered diva. But all that matters to Jonathan is "beautiful hair" -- a fact that he reminds us of over and over as he travels from his West Hollywood salon to his Beverly Hills branch to his therapist's office. Whether he's pitching a fit about the low quality of his product samples or insulting a member of his design team or refusing to follow his fashion-designer client's plans for a fashion show, Jonathan is only doing it, you see, because he cares so deeply about beautiful hair. The world is a tough place for Jonathan -- we learn this at his therapist's office, where he wipes away tears and says that he feels like he's being pulled in a million directions at once.

But it's not the tears or the narcissistic streaks or those tweaks he gives his gelled hair constantly that make Jonathan such a rubbernecker's dream. He's a thoroughly modern character that many of us haven't met before: the swaggering sensitive guy, all raw nerves and sculpted ends and tight T-shirts. He's an unfamiliar type, a sniffling, bossy princess who makes Jessica and Ashlee Simpson look like stoics by comparison. Even his girlfriend is in on the joke: When Jonathan climbs the stairs on the way out of his girlfriend's office and quips, "We're just like Romeo and Juliet!" his girlfriend responds, "Goodbye, Juliet!"

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 30 June 2005 15:26 (twenty years ago)

YES that is what is so funny. I mean did you notice that he kind of broke the door when he punched it? And all of that just to have those same bottles in the end anyway! Whatever, that designer guy is a total douchebag, who says shit like that whole "beauty school education" speech? Douchebags, that's who.

Allyzay knows a little German (allyzay), Thursday, 30 June 2005 15:26 (twenty years ago)

"What he lacks in pumped up physique"???? Did the person who wrote that ever actually see Jonathan??? The dude's arms are ripped! He dresses like Spencer Chow.

Allyzay knows a little German (allyzay), Thursday, 30 June 2005 15:27 (twenty years ago)

i think he elbowed the door, god forbid he break his $500 scissor finger.

Lupton Pitman (Chris V), Thursday, 30 June 2005 15:29 (twenty years ago)

ned, you should take your mane over there for the $500 signature layer cut.

Lupton Pitman (Chris V), Thursday, 30 June 2005 15:30 (twenty years ago)

Well that's still unreasonable when you're just going to agree with the guy in the end anyway.

If I had $500 I would go visit Jonathan.

Allyzay knows a little German (allyzay), Thursday, 30 June 2005 15:31 (twenty years ago)

yeah zorbnit guy is a douche.

Lupton Pitman (Chris V), Thursday, 30 June 2005 15:33 (twenty years ago)

He plucks his eyebrows obviously = he is a douche. That is like my standard for knowing right away whether or not someone is intolerable.

Allyzay knows a little German (allyzay), Thursday, 30 June 2005 15:37 (twenty years ago)

ned, you should take your mane over there for the $500 signature layer cut.

I shall wear a wig, which he can then trim.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 30 June 2005 15:54 (twenty years ago)

That is a lot of expense and effort put into tricking a hairdresser, dude.

Allyzay knows a little German (allyzay), Thursday, 30 June 2005 15:55 (twenty years ago)

I'll win a lottery first to justify the purchase.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 30 June 2005 15:56 (twenty years ago)

WAIT THEY ARE CALLED "STYLISTS", JONATHAN GOTS MAD.

Lupton Pitman (Chris V), Thursday, 30 June 2005 16:08 (twenty years ago)

Allyzay knows a little German (allyzay), Thursday, 30 June 2005 16:09 (twenty years ago)

"THAT WILL BE $500 PLEASE."

Lupton Pitman (Chris V), Thursday, 30 June 2005 16:11 (twenty years ago)

$500 just to get your hair layered is kind of a lot. That kind of money usually got me a whole dye job as well.

Allyzay knows a little German (allyzay), Thursday, 30 June 2005 16:13 (twenty years ago)

basically you are paying to have Jonathan cut your hair. I wonder what would happen if I called up and asked for an appt with Jonathan.

Lupton Pitman (Chris V), Thursday, 30 June 2005 16:15 (twenty years ago)

THIS SHOW HAS BEEN GROWING ON ME. LIKE FUNGUS.

gabbneb (gabbneb), Thursday, 30 June 2005 16:19 (twenty years ago)

HOW MUCH OF IT IS AN ACT? IS IT GOOD BECAUSE IT'S SELF-AWARE?

gabbneb (gabbneb), Thursday, 30 June 2005 16:20 (twenty years ago)

i bet Jonathan is booked for 20 years

Allyzay knows a little German (allyzay), Thursday, 30 June 2005 16:21 (twenty years ago)

Jonathan reminds me of my high school band director. Like, the whole part where he just asks Edward "are you nervous? what do you have to be nervous about? the class tonight? you should be." Oh jesus and the story he told about when he took over the salon when he was 23. WTF. WHY IS IT AWESOME?

TOMBOT, Thursday, 30 June 2005 17:58 (twenty years ago)

missed last nights, have it tivoed.

Lupton Pitman (Chris V), Wednesday, 6 July 2005 09:12 (twenty years ago)

Last night's episode was disappointing! Nobody even got into a decent argument. Half the ep was basically dealing with that pink+green manga hair woman and her bringing her infant into work and everybody having to look at her nipples. Then more Jonathan hanging out with his sister in Vegas. The product line thing petered out, Scott finished the packaging design and Jonathan was really happy with it, BORING.

I demand CONFLICT in my premium hairstyling tv

TOMBOT, Wednesday, 6 July 2005 14:05 (twenty years ago)

boring, what a fucking crybaby Jonathan is. And his sister is one beatdown looking pig.

That Scott guy who had the party is overly flamboyant.

Lupton Pitman (Chris V), Thursday, 7 July 2005 08:56 (twenty years ago)

there's been like three different occasions where i've seen this in the lineup and been like "oh cool, brian depalma's blow out, everyone says that's good" and then it turns out to be this! argh!!

J.D. (Justyn Dillingham), Thursday, 7 July 2005 09:23 (twenty years ago)

"SO HOT"

gabbneb (gabbneb), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 23:49 (twenty years ago)

haha.

Lupton Pitman (Chris V), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 08:54 (twenty years ago)

I LIKED TUESDAYS EPISODE. 3-4 CRYING FITS. I THINK IM GOING TO TURN THIS INTO A DRINKING GAME.

IN OTHER NEWS, I BOUGHT JONATHAN PRODUCT FROM QVC. DIRT.

Lupton Pitman (Chris V), Friday, 15 July 2005 11:11 (twenty years ago)

I didn't catch Tuesday's! I feel like it's all downhill from here now that he's achieved his lifelong dream of getting premium hair care products with his name on them out in the shops.

I can't wait until my hair grows out long enough to use dirt! That's what Ally bought at the Sephora in gtown upthread.

TOMBOT, Friday, 15 July 2005 13:16 (twenty years ago)

the episode was really funny, especially when he rode the forklift. "need anything bro?"

Lupton Pitman (Chris V), Friday, 15 July 2005 13:17 (twenty years ago)

i even called QVC today to complain about my DIRT not being shipped!

Lupton Pitman (Chris V), Friday, 15 July 2005 13:18 (twenty years ago)
