No decent records in 16 years; man it's a bugbear.

Bone Machine? was not a good record. I think you might have missed one. Rain Dogs is definitely my favorite, but Bone Machine was beautiful.

I THINK HE RE -TILES FLOORS IN CALIFORNIA NOW.

i think every record he's done post swordfish is rad. you're nutz.

chaki, Thursday, 13 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

But is he big in Japan?

one year passes...
his albs since Bone Machine have done nothing at all for me. I think that when he didn't make records for a while, I grew up without him.

I thought Alice, for instance, was a terrific album, and that was only about a year ago. I agree he's not made anything since Rain Dogs that's as good as that album, but only a handful of other people have made anything that good in the last fifteen years also. Or ever, come to that.

Important notice for sample-monkeys -

The bass and snare off Phillipino Box Spring Hog are the most sampleable things you will ever come across.

Lynskey (Lynskey), Monday, 28 July 2003 10:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Unimportant notice for sample monkeys:

The vocals off Komminiezuspadt! are not.

There was a song on that shitty Lyricist Lounge compilation a few years back that sampled "Singapore" off of Swordfishtrombones.

NA (Nick A.), Monday, 28 July 2003 11:17 (twenty-two years ago)

Blood Money is great. I prefer it to Rain Dogs.

...except I'm listening to said Waits album right now and I don't see a song of that title on it?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 28 July 2003 13:38 (twenty-two years ago)

it's on Raindogs.

Whatever.

NA (Nick A.), Tuesday, 29 July 2003 11:35 (twenty-two years ago)

'Alice' has some fantastic tracks, 'Blood Money' could maybe do w/more tunes. I like it anyway. I like pretty much everything.

My submission is called: "Hello? Frank's Wild Years?"
Another stupid point: the demo version of "There's Only Alice" (i.e. not the album one) may be the most gorgeous Tom song ever.
