There exists now a strata of 'celebs' that do not register on any kind of party 'list' i.e. not even D-list, but if they came to your party or mine, at least 50% of people that had never met them would know who they were.
They could go into a nightclub and someone would buy then drinks al night, but they do not have the extended media career of their dreams. No "Nuts" shoot, no cable TV show...

The current news re: Lesley from Big Brother 2005, and 'what happened since' according to the Sun.
She seemed to be the epitome of 'celebrity' via no-reason or talent, purely from being on the telly, and having the cache to have 'drinks bought' whenever she goes clubbing and that.
Thesedays, that kind of instant fame evaporates and as long as you know it's going to, then fine.
But, if you think you can sustain a media career, you'd better have some sort of talent or appeal to keep it going.
