Hello -

I ordered/received a pair of shoes that are quite painful to wear and I would like to return them.

Fuck Off:

I'm not sure what good the return policy is if your customers aren't able to try on the product before deciding that they don't fit. But, that being the case, I now know that shoes by mail is a horrible idea, and I will stick to buying my shoes from a place where I can try them on first.

(Maybe I should have been more harsh?)

Define 'worn': inside our outdoors?

Mädchen (Madchen), Friday, 1 July 2005 13:37 (nineteen years ago)

If you'd worn the shoes that you purchased from a non-online shop you wouldn't be able to return them. You just need to state that you tried them on & they're too small.

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Friday, 1 July 2005 13:37 (nineteen years ago)

The last four pairs of shoes that I bought were purchased online and I haven't had any problems so far.

Only download shoes if you can upload your feet.

(This weeks t-shirt slogan)

I didn't say whether I'd just walked around the house in them or if I had swept out an elephant's cage.

Anyway, what a fucking hassle. The money isn't even important - it wasn't that much.

Which ones did you buy? I'm just curious. Never did this myself.

nathalie's post modern sleaze fest (stevie nixed), Friday, 1 July 2005 13:43 (nineteen years ago)

If you just wore them indoors you should be able to return them. Say they don't fit and haven't been worn off of carpeting. It's walking outside that immediately marks up the soles almost irreversibly, unless you buy them from this one concession in selfridge's where they have incongruously paved their trying-on area with frickin' flagstones, in which case the staff look askance at you when you try to return them unworn.

sgs (sgs), Friday, 1 July 2005 13:45 (nineteen years ago)

If you only tried them on inside then they should take them back. If you wore them outside then you're stuffed. Anyway, they're definitely not going to do anything for you now you've been extremely rude to someone who was doing their job to the best of the information you gave them.

...xpost try calling them and changing your story, being polite but firm--according to their returns policy you should be able to at least exchange them for another better-fitting pair or get your money refunded.

Oh, by the way, I did not include the words "Fuck Off" in my reply. That's just a description.

Heh, that's alright then.

I buy shoes, well trainers, online all of the time & never have any problems.

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Friday, 1 July 2005 13:54 (nineteen years ago)

Trainers are much safer than other shoes, because they're generally accommodating shapewise as long as they're big enough. Dressy shoes are a bit of a mare though.

Liz :x (Liz :x), Friday, 1 July 2005 13:55 (nineteen years ago)

Actually, it's not as easy as you'd think. Various styles of shoes can differ enormously within the same brand. Stupid but true!

I've purchased a few shoes online too without any problems.

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Friday, 1 July 2005 14:02 (nineteen years ago)

I've got a regular online supplier of koudenbergs which is a GREAT thing, cos I hate going in shoe shops. Somehow revealing my socks in public just feels really wrong. Shoes online are good.

JimD (JimD), Friday, 1 July 2005 15:06 (nineteen years ago)

i hate going into any shops, full stop. since i only really wear converse anyways, and haven't changed foot size in like 15 years, i could easily do this.

You people need to use Zappos.com. The returns are FREE. No shipping!! I love that site.

I buy Blundstones from a place in Queensland but I know my size so it's not such a gamble.

I received some great shoes from Zappos for much cheaper than they normally would be. My Skechers are still going strongly after ten months, which is amazing because I usually wear my shoes down in three because I have to walk everywhere.

I recently got some tennis sneaks online, no problems since I know my size in adidas. I did doublecheck the return policy first though in case they didn't look good enough!

sleep (sleep), Friday, 1 July 2005 21:25 (nineteen years ago)

I haven't had any problems. I ordered a great pair of dress shoes online, but they're made for walking, so there's some elasticity. I think the more "rigid" the shoe, the more trouble you will have.

VM 9001 (dymaxia), Friday, 1 July 2005 21:35 (nineteen years ago)

shoes.com also has free shipping and returns.
last week I got some Globe sneakers from them, and the left was bigger than the right. i have other Globe shoes, same size, so I know it's not my feet that aren't uniform. Returned them but couldn't exchange cause that was their last pair. Ordered from a dif place, and they had to cancel my order cause they were out of stock and the manufacturer is, too. Fuck.
