No idea about the airport, but the town is very nice, the cathedral has a totally monumental roof.

Girona's a nice town, well worth a morning's stroll followed by a cheap Catalan menu del dia. About an hour's train trip to Barcelona if I recall. From there, the Costa Brava's not far. A train to Sitges is 40 minutes or so I think.

Girona airport isn't that close to GIrona town if i remember correctly but i think Taxi's are cheap, especially if there are 2 or 3 of you. The town is wonderful and well worth a visit. the riverside is like a piece of Florence ploned down in spain and the town further up the hill is a lovely Moorish/Gothic combination. Don't bypass it!

Lots of brown plastic and no seats is my overwhelming memory of the airport. And some very laid-back security guards.

its a pretty small airport! tickets to barcelona were 19 euros for an open return, as of 2 weeks ago. its an hour to barcelona. to the costa brava, i dont know. theres some links at the sagales site. trying to nagivate the Generalitat de catalunya transport site is a bit difficult, withall the broken links an all. cant really remember whether theres any publci transport from the airport. no rail/metro links, only bus.

Yes, Mark. It is the best airport for the Cosat Brava. In fact it shouyld really be called Costa Brava airport, as that is its main business, I believe. Formerly charter flights, now EasyJet and so on, I think.

Mind you, I've never been to the airport.

I don't know about public transport. My gues would be thatthere is something to Girona city and then you'd have to wing it from there. But I don't know. So don't take too much notice.

I will see what other information I can find, using my google skills.

But yes, Girona is a nice place for a day trip, there are walls to walk along and spooky back passages in the Jewish quarter.

Sitges is not the Costa Brava, it is the jewel of the Costa Daurada. You wopuldn't want to go to Barcelona and then go to the Costa Brava, that would be like going from London to Brighton and then to Croydon.

There's this, but the prices strike me as extortionate:

Wow, that's great! Thanks for the info you guys.

Yeah, that seems quite expensive, but it may be the way.

Thanks again...

Basically, that resorthoppa thing was advertsied on Google, so it's aimed at foreigners, that's why it's more expensive. There should be a cheaper option.

See, much cheaper (unless there are eleven of you):
