Anyone else with almost zero friends to speak of? In Jax?

I'm thinking about moving to Chicago. Florida (Jacksonville) is a shithole. Do you feel my pain? If not, did you ever? Thanks for reading.

I'm in Tallahassee, but I completely understand about Jacksonville.

I'm no where near Jacksonville but I can't pass up the opportunity to admit that I have zero friends to speak of.

Tallahassee! Now I'm imagining you speaking with Kyan Douglas's (from "Queer Eye") voice, since he was born & raised in Tallahassee.

Anyway. No friends... not at all? Really? Wow. I guess I can relate a bit to that because my friends IRL are either engrossed in their own lives or too dissimilar to me to really be able to factor into my everyday life that it's sorta like having no friends at all, but... that's just in real life, and I'm sure eventually someday, somewhere down the line, someone will pop up on ILX who lives in Jacksonville who will totally be a good person to befriend.

Gotta look at more angles than just the friend thing, y'know.

New Romantic, are you also a multicoloured halo?

I've sat back and watched over the past 2 years while one by one my friends moved away from my town. Tonight I went to the going-away party of the last one of a particular group of friends I greatly enjoyed having. It's hard to believe they are all in different cities now. One even in Sweden! Well you know I wish them well, but...

I moved from Florida to Chicago.
You should do it!
You will meet lots of new people, be you will end up just as alone and friendless as you are right now.
But, you will have lots of bars to drown your sorrows in. Also, during the winter you'll forget all about other people because you will be too busy freezing to death. Oh, it's a wonderful city!

Note: I have no idea at all why I posted "Gotta look at more angles than just the friend thing, y'know" -- oh wait, I just remembered. I meant to look at more than just the lack of friends as a reason to want to move out of Jacksonville. Which you really should. You should look at all of the aspects of your life as it is in Florida and see whether they would be benefitted by making the big move to Chicago. That's what I meant.

Ha. You're aware of the fact that that ("Many Coloured Halo", not "multicoloured") was a fandork nickname, right? Not like this present one at all.

I, too, have zero friends in Jacksonville.

I also have zero friends in the town I actually live in, so I can sympathise.

I've got one friend who lives, strangely enough, 20 miles outside of Jacksonville over in Macclenny. I know two more people in Jax but haven't heard from them in ages. What is it about Florida that makes people so flaky? I've got plenty of acquaintances here in Tally Ho but I'm not close to anyone and they usually don't (want to) do anything except smoke if they aren't attending nu-punk shows or frequenting local coffeehouses.

Yup, Dee, he was from here and I was very surprised to learn about that. I probably sound more like him than the more Southern-fried Tallahasseeans, surely.
