s1ocki (slutsky), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 03:14 (twenty-one years ago)

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 03:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Huk-L beat me to it. Who is Greg?

Aimless (Aimless), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 03:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Many congratulations! A fantastic achievement, Greg.

What are you going to be doing now? Postgrad? Off travelling? Or joining the dreaded world of work?

C J (C J), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 03:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Aha! From the Search function:

Greg (Gravel Puzzleworth etc) is MOVING TO TORONTO, probably. (3 matching messages)

Aimless (Aimless), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 03:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, excellent! Yay.

Huk-L (Huk-L), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 04:02 (twenty-one years ago)

It is a degree, only fancy! I get to wear a hat that says F on it and maybe get jobs or something, I dunno. There's a thread about cozen getting one but it seems to have vanished...

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 04:53 (twenty-one years ago)

I keep rechecking the e-mail to see that it's still there.

Gravel Puzzleworth (Gregory Henry), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 04:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh! So you graduated in a fancy manner then! Go team you!

The Kind and Benevolent Oracle of Dee (Dee the Lurker), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 05:10 (twenty-one years ago)

Congratulations, you clever bastard.

g-kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 06:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Did you graduate in a fancy manner too, g-kit? If so, many congrats to you! If not -- you are silly billy and must weather massive noogie from me.

The Kind and Benevolent Oracle of Dee (Dee the Lurker), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 06:45 (twenty-one years ago)

battlingspacemonkey (battlingspacemonkey), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 07:57 (twenty-one years ago)

Greg, you're only allowed to choose one out of beautiful and brainy. You greedy fucker.

(well done :))

Markelby (Mark C), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 08:06 (twenty-one years ago)

As Alan Hansen would say, He deserves all the plaudits and accolades he gets.

Do I take it that they informed you by e-mail? That is queer. I found out by going to my university to look at a piece of paper up on a wall. A couple of us went along late to avoid the earlier crowds, assuming there were any. Then the 1994 World Cup started.

The fact that you keep changing your name (Puzzleworth) confuses me a little. But really, I feel that you deserve this degree, and that it is a fine achievement.

the pinefox, Tuesday, 5 July 2005 08:54 (twenty-one years ago)

i didn't graduate nothin', yo.
my name is greg, though.

so i am silly billy. buh. commence noogie.

g-kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 10:06 (twenty-one years ago)

Congratulations, Greg! How much longer are you in the country?

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 10:46 (twenty-one years ago)

fantastci - well done Greg! x

jed_ (jed), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 10:46 (twenty-one years ago)

greg, that's wonderful! THE FUTURE IS SO BRIGHT!

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 10:55 (twenty-one years ago)

Well done, Greg! (For non-UK readers, a first is the top grade of degree you can get, something like a summa or magna cum laude, more or less. I think only the top 5% or so get them these days, something like that.)

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 11:27 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm not sure that's quite true

but yay and well done, greg!!

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 11:29 (twenty-one years ago)

Blimey! Well done you!

PinXorchiXoR (Pinkpanther), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 11:41 (twenty-one years ago)

Which bit isn't true? Do I have the proportions wrong, or am I misunderstanding the US ones? Either is perfectly possible...

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 11:41 (twenty-one years ago)

oh, I think I just thought "top 5%" didn't seem "right"

I'm sure, though, that my experiences are v. different, to greg's, in terms of subject and the rest

congratulations, again!

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 11:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Well done big swotface!!!

Lucretia My Reflection (Lucretia My Reflection), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 11:53 (twenty-one years ago)

congratulations greg!!

gunther heartymeal (keckles), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 12:04 (twenty-one years ago)

I am as happy as Nicole Julien and Mary Cherry riding around in the back of a limo a-la Madge Music, digging up the dirt on Carmen's mom.

YAY FOR GREG! Also - I have found the best mini-book for you to base your summercamp studies on. Do you have a postal address? Or are you too much of a nomad?

marianna lcl (marianna lcl), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 12:16 (twenty-one years ago)

yay Greg! I will wear clogs soon in your honor.

sgs (sgs), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 12:20 (twenty-one years ago)

and WHAT DOES THE HAT LOOK LIKE? because that is important.

and woooooo! not only getting a prestigious honor because of academic achievement and all of that, but wearing a special hat.

juliaaa, Tuesday, 5 July 2005 12:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I think that Dick has it right, again.

the pinefox, Tuesday, 5 July 2005 13:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Well done! (smartarse)

beanz (beanz), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 14:47 (twenty-one years ago)

i really like this thread.

g-kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 14:50 (twenty-one years ago)

Goncratulations! (Also, can I have some of whatever Dee's having?)

Casuistry (Chris P), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 14:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Top 5% was a guess, RJG. I'll try to remember to check at work tomorrow - but I think the top unis traditionally hand out a higher proportion. I'm pretty sure it was under 5% where I got mine, and probably over at UCL.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 16:03 (twenty-one years ago)

sweet, nice one dude

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 16:30 (twenty-one years ago)

getting a first sounds so much better than getting a magna cum laude

ken c (ken c), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 16:32 (twenty-one years ago)

well done, greg!

c/n (Cozen), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 17:03 (twenty-one years ago)

Well done matey! See, it doesn't put holes in your brain ;-)

dog latin (dog latin), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 21:39 (twenty-one years ago)

This seemed obvious from the first moment I met you, Greg. Well done.

Ally C (Ally C), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 21:46 (twenty-one years ago)

Gravel, I didn't realise you was Greg or I'd've been here earlier to say YAY!

Taste the Blood of Scrovula (noodle vague), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 21:49 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm sorry that I didn't make myself clearer, martin

RJG (RJG), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 22:58 (twenty-one years ago)

You are all awesome and I am blushing.

Yana: '73 Pumpkin Lane, Charlton, MA 01507' is good for six weeks or so!
