too wound up to sleep. have to wake up earlyish tomorrow (today) but i may just stay up and caffeinate heavily when the need arises. sigh.

ive got roaches in the house. every night i wake up every hour or two to the sound of something skittering in my room, only since i sleep on the top bunk, a lot of the sounds bounce off the ceiling, hit the wall next to my bad and i freak out thinking critters are next to me in bed.

i think my brain has started to give up on the idea of sleep. im tired but there's no way i can fall asleep now.

worst part is we only get 2 channels since katrina so my TV options right now are ER + Becker.

it's pretty depressing. whole chunks of the city are just uninhabitable. my place is fine but a took a couple trips to some friends' houses to try and salvage some things and it's just been heartbreaking. i only know a couple people in town and none of the bars/clubs/restaraunts i frequent are open. everyone's on edge. traffic is heavy at wierd hours and the streets are nearly empty at rush hour. refrigerators are on the side of the road everywhere.

i'm probably gonna go work on a film in shreveport for a while. the idea of getting a $20/hr job throwing people's ruined possessions out on the curb just upsets me.
on the upside, the halloween celebration on frenchman was very...spirited this year, even though it was much smaller than usual.

eighteen years pass...

I haven't slept in 2 days and just found out about familial fatal insomnia which, as the name implies, is genetic but there have been a handful of idiopathic cases. It's a prion disease like KJD and it is horrifying. I will now spend the night searching for any and all material I can find on this btw.
