Today i am at work but sick, got a full on cold settling in, sore throat headache tired etc. I want to be scooped up like i was whern i was a kid in a big soft blanket, taken to the living room (the only time i was allowed to sit with feet up and a blanket on the sofa in my household was when i was ill) given home made soup and cuddles and watch a good film i've seen over 1000 times (like return of the jedi, or warner bro's cartoons) so the brain is not starined to concentrate, and just left to play with lego or sleep.

what did you do when you where sick as a kid? what was you allowed to do that you wasnt normally? do you yearn for that kind of care as an adult?

I got a cheap toy archery set the time I got kicked in the face when I was 5, and I thought it was the best thing ever. That has never been bettered in terms of nice things when ill, though, yes, sometimes I wish it would be.

As a child I loved falling asleep in the livingroom being surrounded by my parents (and the television). I didn't have to be sick to do this: they sometimes installed a fold-out bed so that I could do this. I have great parents. I was rarely sick though.

i was hardly ever sick but when i was i was allowed to do things i wouldnt normally like eat in my room or the livingroom, lay on the sofa, have my toys in the living room.

Being sick was pretty good. My parents and my older brother and sister all became my servants.

Raston, I had a curiously similar experience: when I got stung on the lip by a wasp, my parents bought me a holster with two toy guns in it. That almost made it worth it.

When I was sick as a kid, all I ever wanted was something I never got: that when I threw up, it wouldn't come out my nose, too.

Nobody ever made a fuss of me when I was ill. I was left alone upstairs, tucked up in my bed, with no TV but a good selection of books. My Mum would give me the kitchen broom, with the instructions that if I wanted anything I could use it to thump on the bedroom floor to summon her attention while she was downstairs carrying on with the housework or whatever. She invariably had the hoover going and couldn't hear me.

I wasn't allowed to do anything except stay in bed if I was sick -- no reading, tv, etc. because my mom figured that if I was really sick I would be too sick to want to do any of these things, and if I wanted something to do I must be faking. As a result I would usually go to school even if I felt ill, because that was better than being stuck in bed all day with nothing to pass the time.

If I got sick right this instant, I would drive home, wait for Mom with my full grown ass, and STILL get the royal treatment - any food/DVD/resting spot I wanted, no nagging. Really now, white parents ain't shit!

I used to get to drink Sprite.

I was treated like a princess with gingerale and crackers and a little vomit basin. But also, I was the biggest nerd ever and would be upset that my mom wouldn't let me go to school sick.
