As a non Londoner, I don't give a shit. All this means is that the rest of the country will never hear the last of it. In fact I would rather anywhere else but London had won it.

Nowhere else in the country that has made Olympic bids in the past has ever got an ounce of support from the feckless southern twats, but the moment they make a bid we're all supposed to fucking cheer the bastards on.

Vast amounts of my taxes are going be spent to give them world class facilities that they'll never use again. There will be no trickle down, of course, because [much like the ignorant Londoners themselves] very few non-Brits seem to be aware that the rest of England (Never mind Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland] not only exists but is united it's hatred of smarmy fucking cockneys.

I liked the Olympics during the 1960s. Less so in the 1970s. By the Los Angeles Olympics my like had turned to dislike.

OTOH, this was entirely a reaction to the way the television networks changed their coverage during that time. Too many adverts. Too many canned 'profiles'. Not nearly enough raw, unedited, live competition. The actual Olympic Games are prolly about the same as ever and worth liking, if I ever had another good shot at it.
