sunrises ONLY if you stayed up all night, waiting for it. otherwise give me a hot, sticky, summer sunset.

Constant lowering fog in the slough of despond.

OTM.

OR: sunrises if you're in the desert/mountains/etc. sunsets if you're on the ocean.

i agree, but then i've never seen the sun rise on an east coast beach.

I don't mind getting up before sunrise, especially if you're driving somewhere before the traffic hits and you get to see the sun come over the hills.

I don't especially LIKE getting up before sunrise, but but but IF I'm up (for whatever reason) it's the best time in the world. The world is so empty and relaxed. You have ALL day.

just you and the sun and the birds and the crackheads

OTM. Except lately I've specifically been going to bed at 8 - 9pm generally so I can wake up early for this feeling. I love the calmness you get during that half-life / half-dark period.

Sunrises suffuse. Sunsets riot. There's one for each hand.

Sunrises inspire me. Sunsets make me feel romantic.

swiftly flow the days
seedlings turn overnight to sunflowers
blossoming even as we gaze

Sunset is always disturbing...

i'm in the lucky position of living in a west coast city where the sun rises over a long dark and green mountain range, and sets over the ocean. so i love both, i could never prefer one over the other i don't think. and i love the way both are different depending on the season too.

They look kind of similar. But I saw the first light of today over the local hills and even beat the rooster at his morning ritual. Yeah, there's a rooster here. I was working, had a belly full of coffee and was smilin' with the world.

But I also love the long twilights in summer and can gaze fixed on the darkening as features grow more indistinguishable in a different, sedate manner.

Hell, they're both pretty cool if ya got the time.

I ’LL tell you how the sun rose,—
A ribbon at a time.
The steeples swam in amethyst,
The news like squirrels ran.

The hills untied their bonnets,
The bobolinks begun.
Then I said softly to myself,
"That must have been the sun!"

But how he set, I know not.
There seemed a purple stile
Which little yellow boys and girls
Were climbing all the while

Till when they reached the other side,
A dominie in gray
Put gently up the evening bars,
And led the flock away.

I'm in the weird position of being on the EAST coast of Aus, but because I'm on the west side of a large bay, I see the sun rise over the beach!

Not that I'm ever up early enough to see it, sod that.

Best sunrise ever: flying into Dubai at 5am over the desert, all aglow and pink from the rising sun. Magic.
