Interesting things I noticed occurring on ze weekend:

Sat & Sun afternoons : Baby Doll with Barbara Stanwyck screening free at the National Gallery
Sat: Brit Pop night at Black Cat

Also,

Every thursday: Smithsonian museums open till 8
Every wednesday thruout the summer: outdoor film screenings at the Architecture Building musuem (has anyone ever been to these? it looks really good, but I work wed nights)
