a girl i've never seen before knocks on my door. asks if I have a shot glass. I give her one. it's 2 hours and still no glass back...so should I consider it gone?..should I be pissed that she never asked me if I wanted some liqueur in return for lending her it? am I a pathetic fool who gives random girls whatever they ask for? grr argh

tell her she can keep it if she gives you some cooky glass.

Kevin, two hours isn't that long, especially if she needed the shot glass to drink out of in the course of an evening. Of course, I don't know at what time you're writing this, so it may be she needs it to gargle her morning mouthwash or something.

Presumably you know where she lives? Otherwise, lending something to someone you've never met before might imply that you weren't being too careful with your property...

When a man you've never met before suddenly gives you a shot glass, you know he's a sucker.

I wouldn't worry too much about the shot glass if it's been gone for only a few hours (though probably by the time I am posting this it's been much longer). If worse comes to worse you could go to door asking people if they've seen it, and if so, for them to steal it back for you (preferrably washed too!). Heh, this girl though, pretty desperate to ask someone they don't know for a shotglass. I wouldn't be surprised if you don't get it back. You could always demand she buy you a new one. Nah, no fool, but if you wanted it back, you probably shouldn't have given it to her...or made it clear
