Heathrow Express is suspended, but RickyT mentioned this:
Ned, *if* the trains are running, your best bet will probably be to get a shuttle bus to Feltham from Heathrow, and then train to Wimbledon, changing at Clapham Junction.
Ed mentioned South West Trains was running now so that's good news. Given that's the case, is there *a* shuttle service to Feltham or am I just looking for a transport there in general? (Searching 'heathrow shuttle' is giving me too many choices already.) My memories of Heathrow's terminal are all based around going and coming via the Piccadilly line so this is all new ground for me. I assume there will be some sort of temporary information board or the like set up for my arrival with more.
Anyway, all help welcome, with much thanks in advance. I'll be able to check this thread for the next six hours or so before I cut out for LAX, though I might be able to check in for a bit there too.

Heathrow Express and Connect services are now operating. The following public transport services are also available:
* From Central Bus Station - National Express services to Feltham rail station * From the terminals - Woking railair services to Woking station, and Reading railair services to Reading * In addition, a black cab taxi-share scheme is currently in place providing services to surrounding London areas.
All local bus services are running but to a disrupted schedule.
Most handy. Ed comes through!

If you can find someone to share a cab to Wimbledon, it'll cost you about £20-£25 but will be much easier.

While I'm thinking of it, can I ask quickly if there's anyone I can call when I arrive to get an update on what's running where? I have this sneaking suspicion that might actually be easier than trying to find news at the airport.

Ned - go to Feltham.
Then : http://www.swtrains.co.uk/stations/networkmap.asp
Get a South-West Train to Twickenham (2 stops, or only 1 if a fast train). Get out on platform 3. Walk across bridge to platform 5.
Take a South-West train to Wimbledon. It may be advertised as going to Kingston. If so, it WILL continue to Wimbledon, just get on. Check with the station man if concerned - he has a small office on platform 4.
The service IS working - my son has just come back from Waterloo via Wimbledon on the exact same line that you will use.
I would gladly pick you up from H'row and drive you to W'Don, but it looks as if I need to be at work. In the light of todays events things may change and if I work from home I will at the very least be able to meet you at some point and put you on the right train. I live in Twickenham you see.
Assume that I will NOT be around, and if things change I will post here. Otherwise follow instructions above and you will be OK.
