Inspired Morris mischief or past-its-sell-by-date Onion rip-off?

Edna Welthorpe, Mrs, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

It's Iannucci and Morris - according to 'Today' this morning. I thought the last Brasseye obeyed the law of diminishing returns, and this even more so.

Edna Welthorpe, Mrs, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

It made me laugh. Though that isn't saying much, I'm a mentalist.

DG, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

A New York banker who's car was hit

Who's the shoddy speller? Iannucci or Morris?

N., Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Is this the Happy Birthday to Edna Welthorpe thread? I hope you have a great, oops, sorry, gr8 day.

I look forward to viewing your spandex clad quim later.

David, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The shoddy speller must be Ianucci.

Jonnie, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Are you misspelling his name as some kind of gag?

N., Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Er, yes.

Jonnie, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Wow, the two skinniest boys I know in FITE! shocker. this would be worth watching.

chris, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

What FITE?

N., Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yeah, what he said.

Jonnie, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

you two, man to man, shirts off, in the car park, I'm charging everyone a fiver to watch it.

chris, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Sorry, but I've got a cold.

Jonnie, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Well you can keep your shirt on then.

Emma, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm a lover not a fighter.

N., Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Loving and fighting are not opposites, it is more of a continuum.

Emma, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Would you recommend that I attack women I fancy at discos with my fists?

N., Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Is that a so solid crewism?

Jonnie, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Dastoor, when did you last go to a "disco"?

Tag, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Last nite. I have a habit of calling everything a disco, sorry.

N., Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Is it Emma 4 Stevie T then if loving and fighting is a continuum?

Pete, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Nick Dastoor = "disco", then.

Tim, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"burn down the disco"

David, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I take it all back, Dastoor DOES go out and not listen to the Smiffs all the time, he wears spandex LEGGINGS and struts his stuff to CHIC cor blimey. I suggest you hurl brimstone at them. It'll get their attention and might even lend to a swapping of PHONE NUMBERS if not even SPITTLE!

Sarah, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Ewwww, MING!

DG, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

And for special occasions he wears his WORD UP! (Cameo) codpiece outfit.

Sarah, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

More MING than MING THE MERCILESS!

DG, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Why do you hound me?

N., Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Why not?

DG, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Sorry Nick.

Really sorry. Cos I have IMAGES in my head now.

Sarah, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Maybe Nick could have a CODPIECE THAT SPOUTED BRIMSTONE like what those heavy metal singers wear.

Edna Welthorpe, Mrs, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Re: The Onion, I now have a copy of the Tenth Circle book which I bought for someone as a Christmas present and promptly bent in my bag. Is it any good?

Mark C, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

"Spandex quim" reminds me a little to much of "MANGINA".

Dan Perry, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Nick Dastoor = Disco Kantor

Nick Dastoor = Disco Rant OK

Nick Dastoor = Disco Rokant

Nick Dastoor = Disco Kno Art

Sorry. 23 minutes spent in traffic jam on A12 at Hatfield Peverel.

David, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Can I call one of my nonexistent bands Disco Rok Ant? Disco No-Kart?

I have this sudden urge to say "drop that ming vase and hold me closer". Don't worry, it's an indie thing, it'll pass, I know I shouldn't give in to such temptations in public.

Erm, anyway. Smokehammer. Not very inspired. Amusing in places, never hilarious, often funnier in concept than in execution, not really as good as the Onion although possibly swearier, more political and more anti-American than the Onion could ever be (though whether these are good or bad things I'm not really sure)... I guess it's a dud. I'll probably still go and read it every week, though.
