There are no serious risks, though, I don't believe. It's just not necessary.

You seem to be contradicting yourself... So which is it, and how much can your body absorb?

Well, there are risks, but none of them involve cancer or anything.
how much can your body absorb?
I'm sure it depends on your body, but probably not 1000 times the recommended daily intake, like there is in one of those "C Monster" drinks.

I imagine the only way that Kool Aid positively impacts your health is that it makes you happy.

The researchers measured the thickness of neck arteries in more than 500 patients, then interviewed the patients about their supplement use and tested their blood. They found that the men who took more than 500 milligrams a day of vitamin C supplements had arteries that were more than twice as thick as those who didn't take supplements. Thick arteries are one sign of arterial disease.
That's alarming. For no reason, maybe, but still.
Look -- how can taking enormous amounts of anything be good for you?

No idea. All I've got is anecdotal evidence from people who "haven't had a cold since I started drinking this stuff!" But like Tracer says, it fizzes! What else do you need? I usually take a packet to work with me and start off my shift with a cup. (And I haven't had a cold since!)

There are two types of vitamins: Water soluble and fat soluble. The water soluble vitamins you just piss away any surplus of (except for B12, which stays in your liver); the fat soluble ones (A, D, E, K) linger in your body and can cause various types of toxicity.
"The livers of certain animals, especially those adapted to polar environments, often contain amounts of vitamin A that would be toxic to humans. The first documented death due to vitamin A poisoning was Xavier Mertz, a Swiss scientist who died in January 1913 on an Antarctic expedition that had lost its food supplies and fell to eating its sled dogs. Mertz consumed lethal amounts of vitamin A by eating the dogs' livers." -- from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitamin_A
