You should use esnipe! That will automatically put your bid in at the last minute and you don't have to worry about being interrupted by stupid customers.

Pash, that's not to say you'd have got it for said price (+ 1 bid) - you and the winner may well have ended up in a bidding war and it may well have gone over your top price.

Leon's right, use some sniping software. I use auction stealer, some I've won, some I didn't but easier than hovering over your pc trying to guess the right time to place your bid.

what happens when several bidders are using sniping software? why is sniping even allowed?

i guess i don't really understand because i thought that sort of thing was already built-in, that ebay just bid you up until the person willing to pay the most was at the top.

My only successful ebay win was a manual snipe. I pushed the final Confirm button with about 15 seconds left on the clock.

(having said that, I hardly ever buy anything from there anyway)

Xpost: they bid you up to the maximum you've put in, but sniping involves upping your maximum bid as late as possible.

I always wondered about different people using sniping software as well, what if they both put in the same maximum amount?

I won my beautiful Kawai electric guitar through manual sniping, in fact everything I or my darling have won has been through manual sniping, except for the drum machine where I was the only bidder, and obviously was going to be the only bidder as well!

Oh well, there'll be another A&H mixer along in a couple of weeks no doubt.
