weird mobile phone problem

I’m having weird problems with my mobile. It started about 10 or 11 days ago. My phone works perfectly well everywhere apart from my flat. When I’m at home the phone says that it has a perfect signal, but as soon as I try to call someone or send a text all the bars disappear and it loses the connection. Or just one bar remains and I get through to the other person but can’t hear anything they say (the same thing happens when people phone me). If I go just 100 yards from my flat my phone works fine.

I’ve tried turning the phone on and off. I’ve tried taking the simcard out and putting it into my old phone (a completely different make) and I had exactly the same problem. My wife is on a different network and doesn’t have any problems. I called O2 and they said they couldn’t give me any estimate as to when the problem would stop.

What’s going on???

There's like ten million things that could be going wrong, of course, but if it happens with more than one phone then it's almost certainly a cell configuration problem. Call your carrier again and be very insistent that this problem happens with multiple phones in only this area, and insist that they send a tech to check it out.

Are you near a big cinema complex or a government/army thing where cell phones could be jammed?

(like the New York tunnels at the moment, for instance)

Forget what I said. (your wife's phone works, so that's not it)
