Depends on the circumstance, though.

My general experience, though, has been that you don't choose your path, your path chooses you.

What I meant is that the path of least resistance is seldom known; to discover it requires effort. By (sought) coincidence, I read a story in Harper's Magazine yesterday by Murakami called "Chance Traveler." The protagonist of the story within the story expresses the idea pretty well: when you have to choose, choose the path without form. But I'm not really sure I know what this means. Are you choosing for something to happen or not?
