people with the same name as you

So there are two Nancies and a couple of people called James here, I think. And surely some other people on ILE, that I am temporarily forgetting, have the same name too.

It would be nice if more people had the same name I think. I share the same middle name with someone on this board, which I find to be very companionable and nice, but I pine to meet someone with the same first name as me.

rainy, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

There are a few Mark's too. I don't think anyone else has Edmund as a middle name. But I am considering a change of name for these boards.

james, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

hey, maybe you could list some of your possible new names and we could vote? Or we could suggest some and you could choose?

rainy, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I feel your pain rainy.

Ronan, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I totally hate that other Nitsuh with the email address that looks similar to mine who posts all that dumb stuff. Ignore him.

Nitsuh, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I think everyone knows the other Dave quite well. He's the "controversial" one. Me, I straddle the middle of the road like a well-oiled beartrap, uh huh. But enough about me & those blessed with my first name.

David Raposa, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

There's one with my name who has a period in her name and the other with almost my name who has this thing with nail polish on her toes. So I'm Maria instead.

Maria, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hello rainy, I'm probably as close as you're going to get.

Um, e=mc2.

Are you going to visit Graham in London?

Nancy Drew, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

If somebody gives me my own little blue helicopter, then I absolutely will. Oh yes, and some sweets to eat on the way.

rainy, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

That's a pretty big 'if', you rotten little flirt.

Nancy Drew, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

oh, but surely he wasn't serious so my answer is appropriate.

rainy, Friday, 14 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I wasn't condemning you.

I was expressing my admiration of your abundant wiles.

Nancy Drew, Saturday, 15 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

There you go:www.landtech.org/New_Folder3/Blue_helicopter.gif

Email your address and I will send you come sweets.

Graham, Saturday, 15 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Obviously Muffin I mean:

(And I'm doing this from a black and white computer, so apologies if it's the wrong colour)

"COME SWEETS"! Eee-ew you are SO more pervier than me graham!

Everyone knows the other Ally. But's she's a she and I'm a me. I don't know if people spell her name wrong all the time, either.

Ally C, Saturday, 15 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Graham, Saturday, 15 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I've decided that Graham can't be real. A guy with follow-through? How unutterably cruel that the one person seemingly willing to grant my every wish and indulge my every weakness is merely a fragment of my imagination.

I might send my address and just see if the sweets arrive anyway though...

rainy, Saturday, 15 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I try! But I'm lazy sometimes. *cries*

Ned Raggett, Saturday, 15 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Prodigious birth of love it is to me,
That my love doth believe not my own reality,
My misshapen chaos of well-meaning forms,
My fair angel doth not as fearful Dastoor scorn,

Her every weakness fragrant as the wind,
Her every wish blows us from our selves,
This love quells within my breast,
Then speakst the name: Rainy.

(True Beauty, I shall send you the finest sweets of this land. But first I must switch off this Romeo+Juliet DVD)

Graham, Saturday, 15 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

i just googled my name and found that amongst many other guises, i am a naked aussie celebrity and an artist who paints pictures of hans solo.

di, Saturday, 15 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I'm the only one of me. Hang on, if I Italianise my name...

Hey! I'm clever! And handsome.

Mark C, Monday, 17 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

My normal aggression towards other girls quadruples if they have the cheek to have the same name as me. In my school there were 6 Emmas in my year so I was quite an angry schoolgirl.

Emma, Monday, 17 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Lots of people have my name. I am ungoogleable. My last name is Cl4rK3 (I am paranoid about google after finding lots of DURT on people via devious mannoRZ). My first name is Sarah. SEE! Durrrrr.

Sarah, Monday, 17 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I have a very common name indeed featuring one of the most common first names in Britain and the second commonest surname. I am almost completely ungoogleable.

chris, Monday, 17 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Hint to people - if you want to Google Sarah, google me - (as Pete) and she turns up in association with me singing the immortal version of Paranoid Android.

Pete Baran = Google 2nd Peter Baran - Google 5th.

My Dad has the same name as me. I don't really mind that much. Rarely to be seen in TV credits (though Peter Baron often is, and in one case - The Real Wrolde London - Peter Baron in the credits is actually me, lousy spelling MTV fools).

Pete, Monday, 17 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You'd think i was immensely google-able, and you'd be right. This doesn't stop there being a herd of Trewartha's in Oz and US. There's even a few Alan's. One is an academic that invented some scale of geological/ecological/atmospheric thingy, and there's another that specilises in the history of anti-semitism. I'm the only one in Usenet though, ha! which is a bad thing of course, expecially when you can see how pointless all my posts on uk.music.alternative were.

Alan Trewartha, Monday, 17 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

You can see where I got my lousy spelling from. Don't work for MVT kids, they'll fuck your spelling up.

Pete, Monday, 17 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I was the only one of me and then a year or so ago another one of me turned up on the 'net, in America. She's the daughter of a Catholic priest who had 5 kids whilst he was some other kind of priest but the pope let him convert anyway. She was studying to be a school teacher. I'm hoping she marries very soon so that I can be unique again. I'm betting we had different middle names though.

toraneko, Monday, 17 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

The other bad thing about having such a popular name is mobile phone stuff, I get put into people's mobiles as numerous variations on Emma. One bloke put me in as Emma Cargo for that is where we met. I imagined him having a string of Emmas - Emma Fabric, Emma 333, Emma Tescos etc. etc. It was deeply unflattering.

quotes about some guy's book my profound influence on ILX

"Mark Coleman’s words carry us along like a clear-running mountain stream into the beauty of nature, the power of silence, and the depth of meditative awareness. His great love of the wilderness opens us to the liberating dharma of the natural world."

"Mark Coleman shows us how mindful awareness tools can open the sacred book of nature and a help us to breathe the invigorating air of wakefulness, extending meditation far beyond the cushion and into the great outdoors of life itself."

"With simple, self-effacing clarity, Mark Coleman walks us into our senses. With such a guide, freshness of mind returns, and we rediscover a pearl of great price: the life-changing gift of pure attention."

When I meet other guys with my name they are always cuter and younger seem more like "drews" to me; I have not met nearly as many females with my name as I would expect, but maybe the moviestar Drew Barrymore has dibs on being *the* female Drew or something. Drew does not seem to me to be the name of an old person, really.

There is 1 person in the U.S. named Parker Posey.

This probably isn't true: there are at least two actresses who go by this. (One is, umm, Parker Posey; the other is a little girl named Parker McKenna Posey who played Damon Wayans's daughter on his sitcom, presumably using the "McKenna" because of the other one.)
