When Hooky breaks the teashop's menstrual egg-timer our heroes find themselves in a pickle - Stephen looks on eBay for a replacement but a mischievous Barney buys a new bathtub instead...

Hooky + Barney are entrusted with the café for a week. Hooky spends all day chasing skirt; Barney eats and drinks more than the customers. They’re making a big loss, the owners are due back tomorrow. Stephen suggests running a New Order themed Karaoke evening, but can they remember to play their old songs in time, or interest any punters?

stevo (stevo), Friday, 15 July 2005 12:42 (twenty years ago)

i think it shd be a crispy ambulance themed karaoke evening

mark s (mark s), Friday, 15 July 2005 12:44 (twenty years ago)

They turn up in the pub, but the curmudgeonly local guitarist booked to accompany them (Derek Bailey) is steadfast on playing "what he likes" rather than the songs. This leads to hilarious mix-ups culminating in Bailey hurtling down a steel hill in a steep bathtub, during which run he accidentally knocks over a passing pencil case salesman (Evan Parker) who angrily shakes his fist and hops up and down madly at the retreating renegade.

Cafe owner Tony Wilson has decided to organise a festival to raise funds for the church roof. Our heroes agree to play but are apalled to learn that the festival - which remarkably takes place at the top of a steep hill - is being headlined by their rivals The Cure. Mischievous Hooky decides to sabotage the Cure's act by tampering with their main prop for "Lullaby", a large wheeled iron bedstead...

Tom (Groke), Friday, 15 July 2005 12:54 (twenty years ago)

Local florist Stephen Morrissey's Mexican-American pen-pal is in town but hilariously doesn't speak much English, so Barney agrees to teach him - using his own lyrics. Hijinks ensue when the visiting gang member gets the wrong idea about honey and money and Hooky finds himself pursued by angry bees down a steep hill while draped in a Union Jack.

Tom (Groke), Friday, 15 July 2005 12:59 (twenty years ago)

I think you're all mostly wonderful.

Hilarity ensues when some German tourists arrive on their bicycles! They help Compo and the gang build some robots. Nora chases them out of her cafe.

3. THE GLAMOUR OF THE UNIFORM - Barney's apparent fascination with men in uniform forces Tony to take drastic steps.
