The kill of the cat in the custard pot"?

Can anyone explain me the meaning or origin of the name of some pubs (3 I know of) called "the kill of the cat in the custard pot". Similarly there is a famous book illustration by Leech (in Surtees, Hanley Cross (1864) with the same title. What does it represent/ mean??? Thanks in advance.

No, 'the kill' bit is sometimes there too. And sometimes it's 'mustard pot'. I regret the non-solving of this conundrum.
