I am going on Thursday night!

What should I eat? Should I try deep fried Oreos, or stick to funnel cake?

Should I watch the pig racing?

Should I run away with a carnie?

Let me be the first to say:

County Fair in the country sun
And everything is co-oo-ol!

k/l (Ken L), Monday, 18 July 2005 22:27 (twenty years ago)

My dad was president of the fair board so I hung around all the time, and got free passes to carnie rides, i.e. Tilt-a-Whirl and the Zipper. The dairy cows are impressive.

one month passes...
we just got back from the fair! we had fun. we went early to beat the crowds and sun. ALWAYS a good idea. we got to park right by the front gate. rufus loved the roosters in the ag hall and he loved the bird guy who had owls and falcons and eagles. he went on the car ride and the truck ride and the train ride. i had ribs and frozen lemonade and ice cream. the prize-winning vegetables looked great! superhuman summer squash! the carnies were nice. we got rufus a toy eagle and a huge thomas the tank engine balloon. everyone had fun. cyrus slept mostly. it got hot. we didn't stay for the lumberjack competition. the peruvian folk music was nice.

Dang would absolutely check out ZZTop or Sheila E, just read that the WA state fair nearish Seattle is playing host to Babyface and SWV on the same night, and, good lord, might consider driving up for that

Random Restaurateur (Jordan), Sunday, 16 July 2023 20:19 (two years ago)

This year we have .38 Special, KC and the Sunshine Band, Travis Tritt and T-Pain. .38 Special and KC have played several times each in past years. I actually went to a fair concert for the first time last year, when Joan Jett played. It was fun.

Where I live now they don't really have a county fair, but the county next door (where I used to live) does, and without fail, their headliners are always Country guys whose peak popularity was in the early '90s.

...or more current local guys who never broke nationally.
