RFI: Exchanging Obsolete Currency

I have a substantial amount of Spanish pesetas from a trip I took in 2000. (It was about $160 worth a few years ago). Is there somewhere in the US I can go to exchange this now that they've been using euros for a while? Should I try to sell it to a collector? I imagine I'd get a lot less than $160 if I did this. Should I hold onto it until it's worth millions?

I have wondered about this kind of a situation, before, but that's all I've done

good luck

I think you have to bring it to the national bank of the country where it was issued. They are the people who can help you now. I very much doubt anyone in the US can get you out of this.

what about embassies or consulates or such things?

Someone might do you a favour and take the money off your hands, but they don't normally offer money-changing services. You could always ask, I guess.
