Which is worse - the paperclip, that stupid lion/panther thing, or the little Einstein?

Rum, Sodomy and the LAN (kate), Thursday, 21 July 2005 09:18 (twenty years ago)

on office X for the mac you get a little mac classic, a couple of robots and ... something else, maybe a cat. the robot cries and self-destructs when you turn it off. i find this heartbreaking.

grimly fiendish (grimlord), Thursday, 21 July 2005 09:19 (twenty years ago)

Einstein just goes off and works on the Grand Unification Theory or something. I used to have him when I could change it... I should try again!

Rum, Sodomy and the LAN (kate), Thursday, 21 July 2005 09:20 (twenty years ago)

Dammit, you can have a cat, a dog (Power Pup), Einstein or Shakespeare. But it's disabled on my system! Waaahhhh!

Rum, Sodomy and the LAN (kate), Thursday, 21 July 2005 09:23 (twenty years ago)

(Now why I can't have an obsequious Butler I don't understand.)

Rum, Sodomy and the LAN (kate), Thursday, 21 July 2005 09:23 (twenty years ago)

AskJeeves have probably copyrighted the idea.

Mädchen (Madchen), Thursday, 21 July 2005 09:25 (twenty years ago)

NickB (NickB), Thursday, 21 July 2005 09:27 (twenty years ago)

Mädchen (Madchen), Thursday, 21 July 2005 09:29 (twenty years ago)

battlingspacemonkey (battlingspacemonkey), Thursday, 21 July 2005 09:48 (twenty years ago)

dog latin (dog latin), Thursday, 21 July 2005 10:11 (twenty years ago)

It's not really trombones is it?

dog latin (dog latin), Thursday, 21 July 2005 10:12 (twenty years ago)

Indeed it is.

Mädchen (Madchen), Thursday, 21 July 2005 10:15 (twenty years ago)

Forest Pines (ForestPines), Thursday, 21 July 2005 10:18 (twenty years ago)

Ste (Fuzzy), Thursday, 21 July 2005 11:22 (twenty years ago)

the french word for trombones is also trombones. I have no idea why paperclips are called trombones (wait, I guess it's because they're shaped slightly like trombones)

peter in montreal (spaces are allowed), Thursday, 21 July 2005 13:22 (twenty years ago)

Why are staples called agrafes?

Mädchen (Madchen), Thursday, 21 July 2005 14:25 (twenty years ago)

agrafes is staples spelled backwards.

Which is worse - the paperclip, that stupid lion/panther thing, or the little Einstein?

-- Rum, Sodomy and the LAN (masonicboo...) (webmail), July 21st, 2005 5:18 AM. (kate) (later)

i dont know what the lion/panther thing is but the kitty rules when he purrs and when he puts his painty paws on the screen to get your attention. RULES. plus, if you have the misfortune to be at work with a comp that cant access the internet then that cat fast becomes a pretty damn interesting part of your day.

sunny successor (he hates my guts, we had a fight) (katharine), Thursday, 21 July 2005 14:31 (twenty years ago)

Can you not access the internet then?

mark grout (mark grout), Thursday, 21 July 2005 14:42 (twenty years ago)

Funny that I was able to write letters for twenty years BEFORE the invention of the talking paperclip. Thanks to Microsoft for making a simple activity become unneccessarily complicated and annoying!

French eggs are so tasty because you can never get un oeuf.

A little-used Norwegian slang term for trombone translates as "wank-paperclip".

OleM (OleM), Thursday, 21 July 2005 17:50 (twenty years ago)
