Hi!
I'd like to invite you to participate in the creation of the Brain Dialog installation at Burning Man this year.
Envisioned for the far playa, the Brain Dialog will feature a pair of brains mounted on pedestals verbalizing their thoughts. One brain represents the subconscious while the other represents the unconscious or conscious. As the brains speak, they will glow and light up.
Of course, the brains need something to say...and that is where you come in. I am looking for people to speak their dreams, thoughts, subconscious and unconscious thoughts and feelings into the microphone built into your computer. If you have a laptop computer built within the last 8 years or so, then you most assuredly have a microphone built-in, even if you didn't realize it as it is usually quite small and non-descript. Recording is as simple as one mouse-click...I explain how below.
You can speak as long or as short as you like and you really should say
anything you want. After all, we want to capture what you really think and feel.
Tell your dreams.
Tell the real reason you did something.
Tell someone how you feel.
Let yourself go and speak in a stream-of-consciousness.
Say whatever comes to your mind.
Send as many recordings as you want. The more the better!
I will be compiling the recordings and incorporating them into the project. I will let you know where to find the installation via email once that is known. Information will also be at our theme camp (more info later) for those interested.
You can send your audio file(s) in whatever format works for you. If you are uncertain about any options, just use the defaults. If you are more
comfortable with your recording software, the MP3 format is preferred.
How do I record a file?
Here are some simple instructions for recording and sending an audio file on your Windows PC (Mac users already know how to do this, I think).
1.From your Start menu, choose "All Programs", and then select
"Accessories".
2.Look for a program called "Sound Recorder". (It's possible that it
might be located elsewhere. You can also start it by going to the Start
Menu, selecting "Run...", and typing "sndrec32" and pressing enter.
3.Press the record button (it is the only button that is not dimmed
out), and start speaking.
4.Press the stop button when you finish.
5.Save the file with a name and location that you will remember.
6.Send me an email (stu.sands@gmail.com) and attach the file you just
created.
7.Add any notes that you care to.

I think this would be great in an art gallery or at a warehouse party, but Burning Man just doesn't excite me any more. The first two/three years were awesome, now it's just - overdone.
