Do you have one? What do you use it for? Any good?

Yes.

I run my turntable into it. In Tiger you can multiples it together with the internal output to get 4 channels in and out. This is nice for multitracking, djing and home theatre.

Can you, like, record onto an iPod with one of these?

Ummm... what, a recording of your voice? Probably not directly, but you can use it and a headset and Audio Hijack or whatever app to make an mp3 of your voice, and load it into the iPod as you would any other mp3.

No, no, it would just be great if you could somehow use the iPod to record minidisk stylee with one little mic.

I'll leave that one to someone who actually owns an iPod.

xpost: you're looking for the iTalk. (Not sure about quality)

Why, yes I do! I will admit to owning an imic. In fact, I never told anyone until now. I found it lots of fun. I wonder if it is still sitting on my apartment floor, or if that has been stolen or sabotaged as well.

iMic is nice, though it has a lot of noise if you try and use its built-in preamp. I bought it to record LPs onto my computer, and ended up having to buy one of those fancy phono preamps instead (and have since picked up better audio DAC hardware anyway).

I don't really use it at all anymore, but it works well for the $30 you pay. Other cheapo audio thingys tremble at its feet, I think.

Does anyone here know anything about the iTalk, while we're at it? What does it do -- does it automatically create mp3s of whatever you record on your iPod?
