Christopher Lee to sing at heavy metal festival
http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_1471860.html

Octogenarian actor Christopher Lee is reportedly performing at a heavy metal festival in Germany.

The 82-year-old Lord of the Rings star is taking part in the Earthshaker Festival in Geiselwind, Bavaria.

He will sing with two bands, Manowar and Rhapsody, according to concert organisers.

Lee will be accompanied by a live orchestra and a choir and will perform alongside heavy metal bands such as Grave Digger, Dragonlord and Forces of Evil.

Where 25% of the songs will coincidentally be about the works of Tolkien.

This will still be better than when Elijah Wood's pop-punk band cover Ramble On during the 2012 Grammy Awards.

Vas! I thought you were joking!

your debt will be paid in the coin of the realm

He's singing with RHAPSODY? GOD DAMNIT, BE CLOSER, GERMANY, YOU ASSHOLE.

I hope that a bootleg finds its way into my collection. Who will be there? who will put this treasure online? If only I could see this in person

This sounds like it's gonna be the best thing ever.

I'm trying to think of something cynical to say, but I really can't think of anything.

AGAINST THE POWER OF METAL, THERE CAN BE NO VICTOR!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 27 July 2005 11:45 (twenty years ago)

Lee did a guest voiceover on a Rhapsody record a little while back, which was probably the genesis for the appearance

That's because this is the best news on the wire today, tomorrow and forever. I hope he wears Manowar panties.

I really want him to perform in a copy of the dress from 'The Wickerman'. This is the greatest thing I've read all week.

fractal (fractal), Sunday, 7 August 2005 21:20 (twenty years ago)

No! He must be dressed as Saruman. That would be the most Heavy Metalist thing ever.

I really hope someone puts it on the net.

I hate christopher lee

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 7 August 2005 23:11 (twenty years ago)

but he looks fucking great for 82!

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 7 August 2005 23:14 (twenty years ago)

I sort of met him once. I was working at Forbidden Planet (a massive comic/sci-fi shop) and he was doing a signing there. I was walking through a narrow corridor in the staff area and literally bumped into him. I don't think I've ever come across someone with such a huge presence - I'm six two and he seemed to tower over me, and for a few seconds I actually paralysed with fear. This was pre-LOTR, and I was just thinking 'fuck, it's Dracula, please don't kill me'. Then he just nodded at me and walked past.

Why do you hate him, RJG?

chap who would dare to thwart the revolution (chap), Sunday, 7 August 2005 23:20 (twenty years ago)

he's in all these movies, now

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 7 August 2005 23:23 (twenty years ago)

He's a movie actor. That's his job.

chap who would dare to thwart the revolution (chap), Sunday, 7 August 2005 23:29 (twenty years ago)

yeah, I don't really hate him

it was just all this lord of the rings and star wars pish and I saw charlie and the chocolate factory, today, and he was in that, too, and I thought "I hate him"

having read his IMDB biography, now, though, I like him

he is 83!!

RJG (RJG), Sunday, 7 August 2005 23:47 (twenty years ago)

I thought you were going to say you hate him cos he's an enormous ham, which he kind of is. However, he's so damn good at being an enormous ham that it doesn't matter (see also: Brian Blessed, Tom Baker).

Off=topic but I find it dead weird that people are reading news sites from my country, Malaysia for music news since in my opinion, it's a barren, barren land for good music. NME apparently reads the Malaysian Star too:

:/

off-topic.

Roz (Roz), Monday, 8 August 2005 02:01 (twenty years ago)

bah html. NME article

Roz (Roz), Monday, 8 August 2005 02:03 (twenty years ago)

We do that because we are dulled with the regular news around here and seek new vicarious thrills overseas. (This may be a lie.)
