my central heating has gone bonkers

OK, I finally just bit the bullet after an evening of freezing while kidding myself that my central heating was OK, just "resting" — and turned it off. On the grounds that it wasn't ON anyway, so what's the diff. IMMEDIATELY IT STARTED HEATING UP!! You are turned completely off now you daft pipes and boiler!! Why are you now hot?

I am now down to two working radiators (out of c.8) however they do at least work when the on switch says 'on'. To be frank I'm not complaining since it's not like my gas bill will be low this quarter (see previous threads).

Stupid kitchen radiator spews brown crap all over the floor when turned on. Bedroom radiator snuggled against my mattress so that if I turn it on things will burn. Luckily den and roommate's bedroom are fine. Also, terrible clanging sounds at odd hours.

Sounds like you'd better ring up Jim O'Rourke and ask him to come all the way from the USA to your place, firstly stopping off at Harold Moores Records in Great Marlborough Street to spend hundreds of pounds on rare Stockhausen vinyl. I understand that he is also an expert on malfunctioning refrigerators.
