What are lie bumps?

You know, those little eruptions that come up on your tongue every so often and hurt like the devil? I always joked that they're exploded taste buds, but what are they really?

eight months pass...
"Lie Bumps" are those painful white spots that appear on the tongue. WHen they swell up and turn a whitish color, they become more painful and a nuisance the third and fourth day it forms. It is really an inflamed tatesbud. If you bite down on the bump or scrape it against your teeth, the pain would feel as if it is going into the back of your neck if the bump is in the middle of the tongue. If the bump is on edge of the tongue, the pain would feel as if the side of your neck hurt if you bite on it. When I get a lie bump, I cannot help it but to bite on it because it is just there though the pain just drives me annoyed. Sometimes I be having my finger in my mouth scraping at it or putting pressure on it when I know it will hurt really bad if I do that. It's like a teething baby's situation when his swollen painful red gums gives him the urge to knawl on something just like an swollen whitist and annoying painful lie bump gives me the urge to tamper in my mouth because it hurts. But the truth is that I really do not like having tongue lie bumps at all; they don't feel too good. It is especially a nuisance when I am just waking up or is trying to stay asleep at night. It is even worse when I get two lie bumps. It's kind of difficult for me to eat hot foods or drink hot beverages with lie bumps on my tongue without it hurting. Lie bumps are also sensative, they will hurt really bad if you place anything hot onto them. I can't imagine having a tongue covered with lie bumps, that would make me irritated during the day because of the impossibility to enjoy a hot lunch without any discomfort. That would be like torturing my tongue if you ask me. Then I would be eating cold food or drinking cold tea for the next few days. It would be 100% likely that it will perhaps cause me great aggravation and even a taste of misery when I wake up in the middle of the night and my tongue is hurting so bad.

I found this of particular help: It's like a teething baby's situation when his swollen painful red gums gives him the urge to knawl on something just like an swollen whitist and annoying painful lie bump gives me the urge to tamper in my mouth because it hurts.
