Hello all from the sunny Isle of Mann. Am I the only ILEer to have come here? How do I convince my mun to give me the 60s electrolux fridge she bought for £10 in an auction?

How are the two questions related? Or aren't they? That's no way to get a high placing on the statscock ;-)

The Isle of Man had men with extra legs before Rolf Harris was born or thought of.

Are 'homosexual acts' still illegal there?

The Isle of Mang I believe has a big transmitter. It's very boring. People who go there MUST take thermos flasks. I used to work with a lady who liked going RACING ON MOTOR BIKES on the Isle of Mang. I've never been there myself but some perverse wish makes me want to visit. On a FERRY. My thermos flask will contain HOT VIMTO!

like listening to donna summer and decorating using tasteful silver accents ?

anthony, Tuesday, 18 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

Yes.

RickyT, Tuesday, 18 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I do hope that drinking a flask of HOT VIMTO is not homosexual.

Homosexual acts are legal now, but I think it was the last part of the British Isles to decriminalise homosexuality. Likewise the last place in these islands to retain the death penalty.

Certainly no vimto an thermos's here. Flatrib prune and redwinbe stew, spinach feta and parmesan pie, shepherds pie with parsnip mash, and getting sloshed in the dark room.

the electrolux fridge is light blue, with a red formica insert on the top.

have al;so discovered that my mum has also got the most wonderful blaupunkt radiogram/cocktailcabinet, in beautiful shiny mahogany, for only £50, I want it

I went to the IoM as a very small kiddie, and therefore cannot remember anything about it. Actually, I'm relying on my parents' memory here and even *they're* not sure I went. It may have been my brother, 9 years earlier. God knows how they'd have coped with more than two kids.

Do they still have The Birch?

Michael Jones, Thursday, 20 December 2001 01:00 (twenty-four years ago)

I don't think so, Mike. But they kept it longer than the UK.

Rolling down to the Bushy's tent after a short nap, I met a nonbiker from Scotland who lived on the island and worked in banking, the island's main industry. The second person I met was from Ireland.

Both conversations were cut short by the Red Arrows, a stunt show by the Royal Air Force Display Team, a pair of bi-wing planes topped with scantily clad women doing quasi-calisthenics over Douglas Bay.

Such displays aren't the usual Wednesday night fare in Douglas, the island's capital, business center and only real city. It was part of the TT-week entertainment, along with performances by the band Whitesnake and Celtic-flavored cover acts such as the Red Hot Chilli Pipers.
