I don't even know where to start with this one...

Aaron W (Aaron W), Thursday, 4 August 2005 14:58 (twenty years ago)

I am convinced that Paul Ross is a fake movie critic.

tissp! (the impossible shortest specia), Thursday, 4 August 2005 15:02 (twenty years ago)

I saw HOLLOW MAN in the theater. WHERE IS MY $5?

n/a (Nick A.), Thursday, 4 August 2005 15:04 (twenty years ago)

I saw The Patriot in theatres. I would rather have my stomach be unchurned.

jocelyn (Jocelyn), Thursday, 4 August 2005 15:07 (twenty years ago)

I saw Hollow Man too. Whatta stinker. How do we file?

Outsider Enter Port City (sexyDancer), Thursday, 4 August 2005 15:09 (twenty years ago)

I WANT MY $5.

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 4 August 2005 15:10 (twenty years ago)

Can I get $5 back for seeing "The Cell"?

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 4 August 2005 15:10 (twenty years ago)

What if we saw "A Knight's Tale" on TV? Do we get two hours back, too?

David R. (popshots75`), Thursday, 4 August 2005 15:10 (twenty years ago)

That won't even get you popcorn and soda these days.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 4 August 2005 15:11 (twenty years ago)

Will this kill Heath Ledger's career?

Huk-L (Huk-L), Thursday, 4 August 2005 15:12 (twenty years ago)

Can I get $5 back for seeing "The Cell"?

Despite his breathless 4-star review, Roger Ebert is a real person.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 4 August 2005 15:13 (twenty years ago)

I saw "the Patriot". I blagged it, it was a press screening. Nevertheless, $5 is not enough, sorry.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Thursday, 4 August 2005 15:14 (twenty years ago)

Can I get like 35¢ for enduring the previews?

Draw Tipsy, ya hack. (dave225.3), Thursday, 4 August 2005 15:14 (twenty years ago)

Previews are great!

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 4 August 2005 15:16 (twenty years ago)

Funnily enough, my mother actually bought A Knight's Tale and has watched it several times over.

Ian Riese-Moraine: a casualty of social estrangement. (Eastern Mantra), Thursday, 4 August 2005 15:23 (twenty years ago)

Whoah, Ebert really did give "The Cell" four stars. It's a solid two-and-a-half star film if there ever was one.

Outsider Enter Port City (sexyDancer), Thursday, 4 August 2005 15:25 (twenty years ago)

Will this kill Heath Ledger's career?

I think Casanova might well finish off what's left of it.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Thursday, 4 August 2005 15:36 (twenty years ago)

I saw A Knight's Tale on a plane. The sheer amount of belly laughter generated by the "peasant dance" scene almost knocked us out of the sky.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 4 August 2005 15:40 (twenty years ago)

A Knight's Tale was FUN!

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 4 August 2005 15:44 (twenty years ago)

I thought you hated fun. Er, wait.

I am still surprised Baz Luhrmann had nothing to do with it.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 4 August 2005 15:45 (twenty years ago)

roger ebert's 4 star review of "blade II' convinced me to see the film

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Thursday, 4 August 2005 15:55 (twenty years ago)

how wuz it?

Outsider Enter Port City (sexyDancer), Thursday, 4 August 2005 15:59 (twenty years ago)

dumb

Homosexual II (Homosexual II), Thursday, 4 August 2005 16:01 (twenty years ago)

dumbly AWESOME

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 4 August 2005 16:01 (twenty years ago)

Two of these films - "Vertical Limit" and "The Animal",I've never even heard of.

Pashmina (Pashmina), Thursday, 4 August 2005 16:01 (twenty years ago)

I thought The Cell was okay! J Lo opening the fridge was worth the admission fee alone, perhaps (I just watched it on terrestrial TV).

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Thursday, 4 August 2005 16:02 (twenty years ago)

I really liked The Cell walking out of the theater but it hasnot aged well in my mind. It needed more evil J.Lo.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 4 August 2005 16:04 (twenty years ago)

What was that director's career anyway. "Losing My Religion" and the MTV Awards standing next to Michael "T-SHIRTS WILL EXPLAIN EVERYTHING" Stipe, a Dream Warriors video, then that movie. Does he sit around and eat strawberries the rest of the time?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 4 August 2005 16:06 (twenty years ago)

I saw "A Knight's Tale" and "Hollow Man" at the cinema!

I also saw:

Daddy Day Care
White Noise

I saw "the Animal" on video, I quite enjoyed it.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 4 August 2005 16:06 (twenty years ago)

The Cell is the second-best J. Lo movie I've seen, after that George Clooney one that I can't think of the name of right now.
Blade II fucking rules, but when I saw it I was sick and on cold meds, so my perceptions may have been warped.

n/a (Nick A.), Thursday, 4 August 2005 16:07 (twenty years ago)

The Animal was Rob Schneider plus that cutie (Colleen) from the first season of Survivor. I almost saw it just for her.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 4 August 2005 16:08 (twenty years ago)

I saw "Jersey Girl" at the cinema.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 4 August 2005 16:08 (twenty years ago)

I AM NOT DISCERNING.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 4 August 2005 16:08 (twenty years ago)

I keep reading "A Knight's Tale" on this thread and thinking:

http://media.bestprices.com/content/vhs/30/197131.jpg

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 4 August 2005 16:09 (twenty years ago)

I missed Black Knight :(

I think I might rent "Are We There Yet?". Ice Cube films are often great.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 4 August 2005 16:11 (twenty years ago)

So they're going to just give $5 to anyone who claims they saw one of those movies? I bet you'll have to prove you were there by still owning the ticket, four years later.

StanM (StanM), Thursday, 4 August 2005 16:13 (twenty years ago)

So did anyone on this thread see the Honeymooners remake? Or Bewitched?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 4 August 2005 16:14 (twenty years ago)

I'm gonna see Bewitched, when it comes out.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 4 August 2005 16:18 (twenty years ago)

Oh shit! Earl Dittman of Wireless Magazine to thread.

walter kranz (walterkranz), Thursday, 4 August 2005 16:18 (twenty years ago)

Jel deserves a medal I think. Dare I ask how was Jersey Girl in the end?

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Thursday, 4 August 2005 16:26 (twenty years ago)

I saw a couple of these for free since my friend was a theater employee.

After The Patriot, I want a reimbursement on my nation.

Eric H. (Eric H.), Thursday, 4 August 2005 16:28 (twenty years ago)

Ice Cube films are often great.

Scarily you may actually be right. The only one I can think of which I convinced myself must surely be awful is Next Friday.

Oh wait, there's that one he did with Liz Hurley! And Ghosts Of Mars?

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Thursday, 4 August 2005 16:28 (twenty years ago)

Apropos I watched Men In Black on TV the other week and it wasn't quite as bad as I was expecting it to be based on what I'd heard about it at the time. I would even defend Pitt's Patois (because even if you thought it was inaccurate it was still mindblowingly hilarious).

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Thursday, 4 August 2005 16:30 (twenty years ago)

MEET JOE BLACK, not Men In Black.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Thursday, 4 August 2005 16:30 (twenty years ago)

oh, Jersay Girl was pretty bad, me and my friend were the only ones in the cinema, apart from one guy who had bought his two young kids to see it.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 4 August 2005 16:30 (twenty years ago)

The Cell really needed an extra half hour of plot. Vincent D'Onofrio has since really ruined himself for me as well. (I fucking HATE him on Criminal Intent)

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 4 August 2005 16:31 (twenty years ago)

oh, and I went to Marble Arch to watch Daddy Day Care, cost me £10! It was brilliant though, Cheap Trick are in it, and it was a tour-de-force from Eddie Murphy.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 4 August 2005 16:32 (twenty years ago)

I thought you meant that new Vin Diesel one.

Irononically, trailers always make these films look worse than they probably are.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Thursday, 4 August 2005 16:34 (twenty years ago)

oh, I'd never go and watch a balant rip-off of Mr. Nanny. Hulk Hogan would not approve.

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 4 August 2005 16:35 (twenty years ago)

(btw I went to the Proms yesterday - I wouldn't want people to think I was totally lo-brow)

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 4 August 2005 16:36 (twenty years ago)

you really shouldn't let him be so controlling, jel. there are services and people out there who can help.

Kim (Kim), Thursday, 4 August 2005 16:37 (twenty years ago)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118539/

Saw this on Channel 5, it was great.

Yeah, you are right Kim :(

jel -- (jel), Thursday, 4 August 2005 16:38 (twenty years ago)

"Daddy Day Care" was a lot of fun and super cute!

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 4 August 2005 16:45 (twenty years ago)

Steve Zahn is super funny in Daddy Day Care.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Thursday, 4 August 2005 16:53 (twenty years ago)

The Animal was Rob Schneider plus that cutie (Colleen) from the first season of Survivor. I almost saw it just for her.

I watched this on pay cable, also just to see Colleen. Though she was the female lead, she probably had only about 5 minutes of screen time. Can I get $1-2 back?

nickn (nickn), Thursday, 4 August 2005 17:32 (twenty years ago)

Steve Zahn is ALWAYS super funny! ALUMNI REPRAZENT

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Thursday, 4 August 2005 17:35 (twenty years ago)
