I don't post here as much as I should

I really think I don't post enough. Does anyone else think this? (about themselves I mean, not about me).

No one has ever sent me a quota.

No. Be careful what you wish for.

Why "should" anyone post more than they have the time/energy to post?

I never post here. All posts under my name are created by phantoms.

I know the reasomns why I don't. Most of the reasons are practical. What's more I have seen the reasons develop over time. Stage 1 was getting a job where I didn't have time to post much. Stage 2 was work actually blocking the site so I had to post at home. Stage 3 was the computer I'm using now getting hideously infected with spyware and adware so that it's a pain to use.

Well, at least that's the simple version. In reality it's more complicated, as a result of knock-on effects of Stage 2, e.g. being busy at home, not being at home coz I was going out a lot, and coming home feeling tired and grumpy after staring at a computer screen all day and felling loth to then spend hours staring at another one.

And vice versa.

Ok, Martin you're right, no-one gives you a quota, I don't feel there are any expectations of me to post. But I feel that if my exposure to ILX consists of just occasional lurking rather than active regular posting, then I don't feel as much a part of community as I was back in the day. And that saddens me. There are lots of lovely people here and I miss communicating with them and I have fewer opportunities than I once did to go to FAPs and so forth purely coz I'm not on ILX enough and so I miss them or don't find out about them until they've happened.

I feel like I post all the time.. And then I go back & read a thread and see that I have only posted there once, or maybe nonce.

I really think I don't post enough.

This is fascinating. How would you recognize when you had posted "enough"? What would happen differently?
