See if there's a wildlife rescue somewhere nearby that will take it?

You might have to drive it there.

If untreated, shock is usually fatal. If shock is treated, the outlook depends on the cause, the other disorders the birdie has, the amount of time that passes before treatment begins, and the type of treatment given. Regardless of treatment, the likelihood of death due to shock after a massive heart attack or due to septic shock, especially in older birdies, is great.

The first person to arrive on the scene can take several measures that help, including calling for additional help. A birdy what is in shock should be laid down and kept warm, with the birdlegs elevated about 12 to 24 inches to facilitate the return of blood to the heart. Any bleeding should be stopped, and breathing should be checked. The head and beak should be turned to the side to prevent inhalation of cute birdvomit. Nothing should be given by beak.

My mom says:

Place the bird in a shoebox. Place towels or paper towels around it to keep it warm, and place it somewhere warm, like under a light. If the bird recovers, it'll just fly away of its own accord, but of course, the bird may die.

Was it a waxwing?

Anti-Pope Consortium (noodle vague), Sunday, 7 August 2005 15:43 (twenty years ago)

Ah, OK. If this keeps happening, you should place those bird sitckers on your window.

I was driving one time with the windows open and a woodpecker bounced off the side mirror and landed on my lap. I knew it was going to die. I softly stroked it's back until it stopped breathing.

Jim, that's an incredible image.

At the place where I was housesitting at, birds hit the window the bedroom I slept in at least once a day in trying to get to the birdfeeder.
